When I was young with Photoscan app

I am one of the lucky one that was born during the time there was camera and there was printed photos and lots of photo albums, some magnetics and some pocket pages. I have been meaning to scan them and convert all of them into digital copies. The whole process of converting these memories into digital take a lot of time. I need to take them out of the albums, hooked up my scanner to my computer, launch scanner app, put the photos inside my scanner and scanned them one by one-- which takes a lot of seconds to scan. It's scary and it's cumbersome.

I've tried a lot of scanner app on my phone to scan photos but the result did not look good. And it's very hard to steady your hand when you are scanning with your phone. So I abandon the project with the plan of picking it up again when I have the time, which is never.

Then I found out about Photoscan by Google. Finally the photoscanner app I have been waiting for. The whole process of converting my old photos into digital format become so much easy. No computer needed. Just your camera and your photos. Photoscan app is intellegent enought to eliminate all the glares that you have when  you take photo of a photo.
While doing this project I found this photo of me when I was in Secondary School. I don't even remember when the photo was taken, what year and where it was taken. Amazingly I found this writing behind the photo which I don't think have anything to do with the photo.

Here are a few samples of the photos taken with the app

For those who are curious about the app, watch the Yotutbe videos below:

Hopefully this will help you with your journey to convert all of your printed photos to digital. Not bad for a free app and the integartion with Google photo is amazing. I totally recommend this app.

Why walk when you can run?

I have always love running. I am happy that I am excited to start doing this activity again. All I need is headphones, great musics, apple watch and a running shoes.
For today run I decided to try using Nike Running App on my apple watch. This app track your running in miles not in calories burn. It took me more than 30 minutes to complete 3 miles run.

Why I love running?

😍  It's the best theraphy for me. Somehow running helps improves my moods and helps me think clearly
😍  I can get about 6000 steps with running for 30 minutes
😍  This is the easiest and simplest way to exercise
😍  Running helps me sleep better
😍  Running is the best way to work my heart, legs and core all the same time

#thursday3 [24.11.2016]

Alhamdulillah the traffic was smooth to work this morning. I was so excited to start my normal routine today.

HERE ARE MY PHOTO AND FACTS FOR THE WEEK

24.11.2016

1. I am enjoying using Bullet Journal system this month. It feels so good to finally not worry about which planner I am going to use. This system definitely works for me so far.

2. I am reading I See You. This is a hard read for me because I am having trouble following the characters in the book. The names are so similar that sometimes I forgot who is who.

3. I tried Country Heat Workout by Autumn Calabrese this week. I never thought I could be more than 100 calories, I was wrong. I can't believe this low impact workout burn calories as much as when I was doing weight lifting workout. I do hope I can loose weight with this workout.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Think about it this way…If you take one picture and write down three facts each week — at the end of the year you’ll have more than 50 photos of yourself and 150 facts about what life has been like. It would make such an epic All About Me book — and most of the work is already done." - rukristin.com

One Sweet Day // PL App

It has been a long time since the last time I made a layout that has nothing to do with gengpanjattangga. I just realised that I do make layouts outside of my passion for climbing the stairs and I do need to scrap more about them. I don't want to miss out on routine and normal life.

HERE ARE MY SCRAPBOOK LAYOUTS FOR AT THE MOMENT

Life with the iPhone 7 plus

I have been using the iPhone 7 plus for about three weeks now and I totally enjoy the experience. My intention for writing this blog post is to give you an idea about what to expect from this new phone. I know that there are other phones with better specs and better camera out there but when it comes to user experience, iphone is still the best in my opinion.

As most of you might know I was an Android user and I love Sony Xperia phone. But after using them for awhile I felt like the phone wasn't performing as fast as I would have like. So in 2011, I made the switch to iPhone 4 to see what the hype was all about and I have never looked back. I am sure that now Android OS has improved a lot but I am still worried that I will be disappointed after a few months used. Maybe Android will work better with Google Phone. I am eyeing Google Pixel phone because it looks like an alternative to the iPhone. If I am not mistaken, the price is also about the same range with the iPhone 7 plus.

Here are my thoughts on the iPhone 7 plus after using it for three weeks

The Design
It looks beautiful to me. Ever since I used iPhone 6 plus two years ago, my hand magically adjust to the bigger size. It feels comfortable in my hand. It's water resistant which is good because now I don't have to worry when I drop the phone in the sink ( even though I never do that because I rarely carry my phone in the kitchen).

The new home button
I love the new home button. I didn't need to get used to it because it feels natural tome. I love the Taptic engine they introduce here.

Beautiful Camera
I have been using my phone as my main camera for the longest time. Now with this phone I no longer need to bring my DSLR anymore. This phone is now my go to camera. I love the dual lens camera and the portrait mode function that comes with iOS 10. This is what photography with your phone should be like. Other than using the camera for memory keeping, this camera is also good for scanning.

iOS 10
I love the new operating system. I have so much fun playing with iMessage - I wish everybody can use iMessage. I have a great experience with the new iOS even though I feel like there's nothing new in terms of the look and feel from iOS 9.

 No Headphone Jack
I don't heavily use the headphone with my phone, so it doesn't bother me that much that you can't charge and use the headphone at the same time. I have already invested in a wireless headphone, so I don't really feel the lost. I don't even notice that it is no   longer there. During my commute to work, I connect my phone via bluetooth to listen to music or audiobook. And at home I use apple tv to listen to music.

 Bigger Storage
When I bought a new phone I usually get the middle storage capacity, not too small and not to big. So for this one I bought the 128GB model. I am loving the bigger size storage because most of my digital assets lives in my phone. Now I can do my work, like emails, scrapbooking, journaling, planning, notes and many more right on my phone. I really can see myself using only this phone as my main computer.

Things I don't notice:

 Stereo Speaker
I am used to iPad Pro sound quality that I rarely notice the stereo speaker on the phone

 Siri
Siri is already good on iPhone 6s. So I keep continue using siri as my personal assistant. I don't notice any improvement in this area. Probably because in Malaysia there's nothing much siri can do.

 Apple Pay
This service is still not available in Malaysia. It would be great to have all the retails shop here accept Apple Pay. I don't have to carry those plastic cards anymore.

 Color Gamma?
I don't really see any difference from the iPhone 6s plus. It looks the same to me

My recommandation : I highly recommend the phone if you have an older generation of iPhones. This is the best one yet regardless all of the bad comments received from consumers. Change is good and I believe after awhile everything will be wireless. To me it's a good investment - imagine you get a computing power, a phone, a planner and DSLR camera all in one. It's the best experience you can get.

If you live in Malaysia, try to get this phone from your mobile carrier like Maxis or Celcom, because the price is so much cheaper. Don't buy from unknown seller because you might get the imitation product and it's totally not the same thing.

Are we running today?

Happy weekend everyone! The weather this morning is pretty amazing. It's beautiful, cold and a bit wet. I decided to go out for a run today with the intention to get at least 5,000 steps before noon.

I love running. It's the best and cheapest way to stay fit and healthy. What better way to feel alive other than listening to the sound of your heartbeat.
I ran for about thirty minutes and I have managed to get at least 7,000 steps before 9:00 am and I burned about 162 active calories. Not bad for 30 minutes of hard work.

After I've finished running, I walk around the park to capture a few photos of the day with my phone. It's amazing what images you can capture when you look hard enough.

Have a beautiful and amazing weekend everyone.

#thursday3 [17.11.1016]

Today was such an interesting day for me. I got stuck in a horrific traffic jem. It took me more than one hour to arrive at my office.

HERE ARE MY PHOTO AND FACTS FOR THE WEEK

1. I am lusting over Macbook Pro 13" with touch bar. Suddenly I felt like I am in the middle of history. Things are changing and a lot of people are resistant to change including our dependance to usb slots and SD card slot. I wish everything work seamlessly with one another wirelessly. That would be a cool thing to experience, like life on Star Trek Voyager.

2. I already finished reading The Couple Next Door and I really enjoy the book so much. Now I am reading The Sister and I See You.

3. I am finally at peace with my planner. Bullet Journal has given me the freedom to be me and I have stop obsessing over binders and any other hardcopy planners. I am still using my iPlanner on my iPad as a complement to my Bullet Journal. I am still waiting for 2017 iPlanner from digitallyspeaking.net

The Devil's Work // Book Review

I am in love with this book! I've finished reading this book in less than two weeks. I just love how Mark Edwards can write an ordinary story and put an evil spin to it.

What this book is about?

"A gripping psychological thriller from the bestselling author of Follow You Home and The Magpies.

It was the job she had dreamed of since childhood. But on her very first day, when an unnerving encounter drags up memories Sophie Greenwood would rather forget, she wonders if she has made a mistake. A fatal mistake.
What is her ambitious young assistant really up to? And what exactly happened to Sophie’s predecessor? When her husband and daughter are pulled into the nightmare, Sophie is forced to confront the darkest secrets she has carried for years.
As her life begins to fall apart at work and at home, Sophie must race to uncover the truth about her new job…before it kills her.excerpt from amazon.com

What do I think?

What I like about the book is how simple and ordinary lives of Sophie Greenwood and her office mate become a nightmare over shorter period of time.

I really like that after all the books I've read by Mark Edwards, he can still surprised me. I definitely did not expect who was behind all those horrible things that happened in Sophie's lives.

I have an ebook and an audible version of this book and I enjoyed both format very much.

I really like that the author included a character from this other book in this one. To me he has managed to create a world that feels so real to me.

One thing I learned from this book is not to judge people by what I think or suspect they did/do without having all the facts. Jumping to conclusion is definitely not good especially when you are new and don't really understand the culture of your new work environment. It can do more harm than good.

I highly recommend this book. This definitely made it to my top favorite book of this year

I can't get enough of Mark Edwards and I always looking forward to more books from him.

Around the Office

I was feeling sad and depressed lately. I just don't have the passion for work anymore. I used to love going to work and do the things that I do at work. Lately everything feels mundane and routine.

So today I decided to go around my office and captured a few pictures of what life is like at the moment. Things can changed dramatically when new management comes. I really want to remember what "work" look like right now.

iphone_photo
Before anything else, I started the day by climbing the stairs to 18th floor. This is one of the reason that makes me happy to drive to work. I feel lucky that I work in a building with an open air stairs. The view from the top is spectacular.

iphone_photo
I started the day by checking my bullet journal and my planner. I have been trying bullet journal system this month and I am loving it so far. I can't believe how flexible the system is.

iphone_photo
If I am not in a meeting, I will definitely attend training.

iphone_photo
Attending Big Data for management training this morning. It's kinda dry subject for me. I just can't seems to grabs the big data concept and what kind of problem it's going to solve.

iphone_photo
During fifteen minutes break, I am taking a stroll on the balcony. I love soak in sun before noon. It feels so good to feel the heat of the morning sun on  your face.

Such a beautiful view which I seldom look at and appreciate

It's only 11:00 am and I can't wait for lunch.

iphone_photo
It's time for my morning (not so morning) coffee to heat up my body. I just love this beautiful mug from Typo. I got this at RM10 with purchased. So pretty.

Bathroom time

It looks so calm. Most of the people are busy working.

This week on my calendar. I just can't finished up my SKT yet because I don't have all the information at hand. I need to finalise every thing by this week.

Lunch time - the girls at my office. Yeah to girl power.

I am so happy to see the board is almost empty. It's time to wrap things up for 2016 and start planning for 2017.

I just wish that I have taken the time to document my life at the office a few years back. Life definitely was different. People come and go, technology changes and life was moving at a different pace back then.
