TV Series I can't get enough of lately

Ever since I discovered iflix, netflix, hulu, movie box and playbox HD, my obsession with TV series are getting out of control. I wanted to just skip work and watch these episodes back to back and just get lost in their world and stories.

What are the TV series I am currently obsess with?

#1. Scream Queen

This is definitely a new one I have been watching. I don't really know what to expect but with Emma Roberts as the leading lady in the show I just can't resists. I am only on episode 4 and I just can't stop watching.

#2. Heroes Reborn

I wasn't really get the show at the beginning and I was a little bit disappointed that they didn't bring back Clare and Peter. After Episodes 6 I was hooked. There are something there and I just hope that it will get better

#3. Episodes

This is the tv show I stumbled upon on influx. It's interesting to watch Matt LeBlanc played himself in this tv show. It open up a whole new world for me. It's very hard fro him to be anything else but Joey.

#4. How to get away with murder

I started watching this show last year and I just can't stop. The show is getting better and better. It makes Scandal feel a little bit childish and repetitive. I just can't watch anymore Scandal episodes. Annalise character is so much scarier and twisted.

#5. Empire

I got hooked on this show earlier this year. I marathon through the whole season one on hulu. Oh boy! Things that you do for fame and fortune. I only watched a few episodes of season 2 just because I wanted to wait until the show is finished with this season episodes and marathon the whole season.

#6. Jane the Virgin

The thing that drawn me to the show is the fact that Jane got pregnant due to medical mistake. And the way the story was told was fun and light for such a heavy subject.

#7. Modern Family

Every time I watched this show, I wanted to be a full time mom. Quit my job and focus all my time and energy to my family. I guess I am not strong enough to let go of the security of having a pay check every month to my account.

I still did not have a chance to watch Grimm, Haven, Criminal Minds, CSI, Bones, Arrow, Flash, Supergirl and many more.

Tips for getting to work on time

Believe it or not most of government offices still implement a punch card system. Which means we have to be at the office on time not five minutes late. I know it's a ridiculous system to implement since right now most of people work 24/7 - all the time.

Regardless of my personal opinion I still have to make sure that I follow the rule and be at the office on time. It seems easy but believe it or not the majority of people cannot be at the office on time.

(credit: images from negativespace.com)

Working is definitely not the same as school. When you were in school a.k.a college you can basically do whatever you want. You can go to class late and nobody seems to care except for your study buddy.

Work force is different, people care if you are late especially when you have important meeting or you have assignment due that day. It can cause havoc and disturb balance and harmony.

So today I would like to share a few tips how to be on time for work

TIPS FOR GETTING TO WORK ON TIME

1. WAKE UP EARLY

I know I know if I can wake up early then I don't have have problem getting to work.  It's partly true. Waking up early is the first step to get to work on time. Making a habit of waking up early in the morning have thousands of advantages especially for us Muslim because we can practice our morning prayer early and recite Quran early. How to wake up early you ask? Well that's is going to be a long list/tips that I will discuss in my next post

2. ESTABLISH A MORNING ROUTINE

This is essential. Don't set your mind that the reason you wake up is to go to work. That is not an amazing life to live. Make work or going to work is part of your routine. The great way to start the day is to wake up at least two hours before you have to left the house. If you have kids that are still in school it is definitely important to get them involved in the morning routine as well.

Some example of a morning routine can be viewed on Youtube -- just search morning routine.

My normal morning routine will be to wake up, look at the clock and see what time it was. I stop myself from checking Facebook or any other social media because that activity can stole my time. I immediate went to the bathroom and do the morning cleaning routine. After that I did my morning prayer and recite a few verses of Quran. And then I wake up my kids because they need time to get ready for school. Then I apply my morning beauty routine like moisturiser, toner, serum and what not. After that I start yelling at my kids of they still have trouble to wake up. Usually after the yelling they woke up. I went downstairs to prepare morning Herbalife shake for me and my husband. I have that for breakfast and other health supplements. Then I started to get ready for work - ware makeup (this routine is optional if I'm tight on time I just skip this), ware my work clothes and hijab. This usually take about 20 minutes. And I'm ready to leave the house and go to work.

3. SET GOALS FOR TOMORROW

It is always a good idea to set goals for tomorrow. Things you want to accomplish. It's amazing how by setting goals you are more incline to do it. It is also true if the day before you have set your mind that you want to wake up early and you want to be at work 20 minutes early then you are more likely to accomplish it.

4. DOA

You have nothing to loose if you make a habit of starting the day with doa. Ask Allah for forgiveness and ask Allah for the gift of time. Time is a creature created by Allah which means it can be different for everybody. Don't get me wrong everybody gets 24 hours a day and 365 days a year but how long and short the time is totally different for everybody. Some people feel one hour is too short but some people feel one hour is way too long. Time is relative. So it's not impossible to ask Allah for the gift of time and for making your life easier that day, no delay and no unfortunate events happened.

(credit: images from negativespace.com)

5. KNOW HOW LONG A CERTAIN TASKS TAKE

This is tricky and the hardest thing to do if you are not an organise person. To get the hang of this you need to have a watch with you all the time. Start measuring time especially the time that it need to commute from home to work. When you know the time that you need to get to work, then it's easier to set a cut off time when is the best time to leave for work. Then you need to know how long it takes for you to get ready, the ritual and so on.
This is important to know because when something unfortunate happened and disturb your routine, you know what tasks to skip so that you can still leave the house on time.

6. BE EXCITED ABOUT WORK

When you are excited about something you tend to be on time for it. So find a reason to excited about work. If you see your work as something mundane and boring then you tend to be late for it. From today shift your mind and perspective.

See your work or job as your first love, you can't wait to be a work, you can't wait to make a difference in the world. I know I know this is harder than it sound. If you can fall in love again with Shah Rukh Khan after watching Kuch Kuch Hota Hai for the fifteen time, I know you can fall in love with your work again. You just need to remember why you go to work. Even if that reason is to support yourself and your family.

7. HAVE A COOL AND BEAUTIFUL PLANNER

Tip number seven is a bonus tip. If you have not heard of Kikki K or Erin Condren or planner addict group than I suggest you look them up. Having a cool and beautiful planner can really help you to organise your life better especially when you have so many roles to play. I realised that ever since I have a filofax planner and making them pretty has become an obsession, I tend to look at my planner daily and I can't wait to make lists of things that needs to be done. There are something amazing happened to your brain when you pick up a pen and write or pick up a pencil color and start colouring or draw. You tend to remember things better.

Hopefully these few tips can help you to improve your life and help to be at work on time.
Being on time is respectful. It shows your commitment and dedication to your work.

Digital Project Life [ Week 46]

For Week 46 I used Project Life App with Azure kit. I made the title card by exporting the Project Life pattern paper out and add the text using Phonto App. I journal using Project Life app. I do wish that I can add elements and text on photo directly from the app. I am just lazy to export them out.

Life or something like it

1. I just can't believed that in less than a month I said goodbye to old friends. I know people come and go, nothing is ever permanent in this world but come on three people at once?! This is too much. (The drama queen in me want to scream !!!!) The sad thing was they were asked to move out just because they said no. Saying no is not a bad thing.

2. I have been using my new iPhone for almost a month now. I am digging the new feel but I still have to use the phone to it's full potential. And I still don't get Live Photo? What is it for?

3. I am setting up my 2016 planner on my iPad. I love using GoodNotes app to host my iPlanner 2016. I am totally in love with the simplicity of going digital but the thing that bugs me is backing up to dropbox. My iPlanner 2015 is huge and apparently I can't sync or backup huge data to dropbox. I have to backup to iTunes instead. Now I am trying iCloud syncing. I hope this will solve the problem.

4. I am sad that there's no upgrade for the iPad Air. I live iPad Air 2 and I can't live without it. My planner and my life are on the gold iPad. I hope that next year Apple will go back to basic and push iPad Air to the future. I don't get the iPad Pro and that gigantic iPad is definitely not for me. I am digging the Apple Pencil which I hope they will make one for the other iPad.

5. I am looking at my old Canon IXUS and thinking that I need a new point and shoot camera. I know my phone can take an amazing photos on daily basis but depending solely on my phone to take photos during vacation makes me nervous. I do no want to be running out of battery or space when I want to capture those beautiful scenery or adorable kangaroo.

6. Getting closer to the end of the year. Saying goodbye to 2015 is going to be hard. Saying hello to 2016 is going to be so much easier especially when I am much more wiser when it comes to picking out planner and setting them up.

7. I don't know what to do. I just can't get my weight to go down. Believe me I've tried so many things except control my carbohydrates. So this week I am determined to go cold turkey by cutting down carbo and see what happens. Hopefully this little change can make a big impact. I am so sick of having a flabby stomach. I hate not able to move around smoothly.

8. I am so excited because this is the last week of school. Next week school holiday starts. The most important thing is the traffic to work is going to be light. No more rush hour and no more screaming in my car.

That's all for now....

Hello and goodbye

Hello and goodbye seems to be the theme of my life lately. Having the opportunity to meet new people, make friends and then saying goodbye to them. I guess that's life in a nutshell. Nothing is ever permeant in this world.

The one thing that is permeant and constant in my life is memories and my scrapbooking. I have been making scrapbook pages for years now and I am so glad that this hobby stays with me.

Over the years trends and scrapbook supply changes. And my style changed and evolved also. Before I know about Project Life all I know about scrapbook was 12 x 12 layout with one or a few photos in a page and busy with elements and designs. Then Project Life came along and I seems to stop making a conventional scrapbook layout. In away I am saying hello to Project Life and goodbye to the old 12 x 12 scrapbook layout.

I don't why today I felt like visiting my old scrapbook layout style. A simple 12 x 12 with one photo and a little bit of journaling - simple and clean design. I like it. Sometimes an old friend can really bring back life and keep your creative juice flowing.

Week 46 was a little bit nostalgic for me. Next week life is going to be a lot different at work. So many people come and go. It's hard not to feel a little bit of gap and adjusting to a new situation can be difficult. May Allah bless us all.

Just one day

A lot can happened in a day. A baby was born in a day, people died in a day, a landslide can cause a disruption in a day, a city can be destroyed in a day and life can changed in a day. Nothing is ever permanent in this world.

Living in a fast changing world where changes happened almost instantaneously can be challenging. You really need to adjust with the new normal fast. There's no time to mourn the lost.

This is why I love the press a pause button and take a time to document life on a daily basis. It's important to capture life at the moment rather than hold on to something big to happened.

So today I decided to make two scrapbook layout with two photos of today which capture my / our moment in time because when tomorrow comes these may not be our normal anymore.

12-11web

Scrapbooking / Memory keeping isn't about a fancy design or beautiful layout, it can be about the photo and the story. What you want to remember about that day or about that particular photo. I am sure that a month from now or a year from now I am going to look back at this point in time and said that this was me and this was my life. I exist in this world and life is better because I was here.

These layout is inspired by Cathy Zielske's layout from this blog post. I just love her simplistic approach to scrapbooking and she makes turning 47 sound cool. And she's funny too.

Follow You Home // the review

I have never read a book by Mark Edward before. This is my first one and I have no idea what to expect. The reasonable price on kindle and audible made me decide to purchased both of them. I've finished reading this book in less than a week!! It seldom happened to me but when it does, it means that I can't put the book down for long.

What the book is all about?

"It was supposed to be the trip of a lifetime, a final adventure before settling down. But after a perfect start, an encounter with a young couple on a night train forces Daniel and Laura to cut their dream trip short and flee home.
Back in London, Daniel and Laura vow never to talk about what happened that night. But as they try to fit into their old lives again, they realise they are in terrible danger—and that their nightmare is just beginning…" excerpt from amazon.com

What do I think?
- I thought this book is about ghost or vampire but it's more scarier than that. The kind of scary thing that can happened to anybody.
- the plot and the characters develop are solid. The author successfully introduce twist and turn at every corner and I just can't get enough of it
- I literally felt sick by what happened to one of the character
- I felt like shaking Danial for the truth, the suspense is killing me
- I like this book so much that I already bought another book by Mark Edwards

I highly recommend this book if you like psychological thriller and your heart can take it.

10 things // Planning your perfect vacation

The school holiday is coming and I'm sure a lot of us are planning a vacation with the family. If you have not done any planning before it can be a bit over whelming at first. So many things to do and so many things to check off the lists before the dream vacation can be a reality.

Having a planner or tools (like Evernote) really helps with the process of gathering information and storing them at one place for easy access.

10 things planning perfect vacation

TEN THINGS // PLANNING YOUR PERFECT VACATION

HERE ARE MY 10 THINGS LISTS FOR PLANNING A PERFECT VACATION

#1. Decide where you want to go

This is the first step. Deciding on where you want to go will determine how much cost you need to allocate for the trip and it will also determine how long you want to stay

#2. The duration of your stay

The duration of your stay will determine how long you need to apply for leave of absence from work and will determine you trip itinerary

#3. Check the local weather and temperature

This is especially important if you are going to a place that has four seasons or at a place around mountains area. This will determine what kind of clothing you will bring with you.

#4. Check in advance the local prayer time

The is super important because you need to plan your trip according to prayer time. This  information will also gives you an idea what is the time of sunrise and sunset.

#5. NEVER FORGET TO BRING COMPASS

For a muslim a compass is a must. One essential thing that you need to make sure that you do every single day no matter where you are is pray five times a day. You need to know where is Qibla and a compass help you to do that. It helps to be prepare.

#6. IF YOU ARE GOING TO OVERSEAS CHECK YOUR PASSPORT EXPIRY DATE

This is only relevant if you are planning oversea trip. You have to make sure that your passport is valid for the next 6 months. And don't forget to check if the country requires visa to enter.

#7. Plan your Itinerary if possible up to the hours and the minute

It's all about timing. When you plan your itinerary check also travelling time from your hotel to the place you are going.

#8. Check of halal food in the area

Now it' not hard to find halal food. If possible opt for halal food. If you can cook at your hotel or apartment, it's a good idea to cook yourself.

#9. Journal or notebook

The memory keeper in me can't ignore this. I need a place to document my journey as it happened. Having a notebook and a plan of what I want to document a head of time will ensure that I don't miss out on anything.

#10. Make a list of every thing

If you like me and you seems to forget stuffs immediately after you think of them, it's about time you make a lists. There's no such thing as making too much lists. I made a master lists of all the things that I need to make the trip happen, lists of all the places I want to go, lists of things to bring on the trip either in my carry on or in my suitcase, lists of makeup to bring, lists of things/memorabilia you want to put in your journal and many more.

I hope this lists will help you during your planning stage. There are a lot of things to consider when you are planning a trip especially when you have small kids to bring along.
