OCTOBER 2015 FAVORITES
  • The best thing about October is of course my son's birthday, iPod day and the released of iPhone 6s in Malaysia
  • I subscribed to iflix for one year and I got a great deal which was RM77 for one year
  • My son celebrate his sixteenth birthday this month
  • I am listening to Rapture in Death audiobook the fourth book in In Death series by J.D Robb. This is the first time I read and listen to In Death series. I don't hate it but I am  not excited about it. I would love to see this series made into a TV show
  • I watched Polis Evo and I was so surprised that I enjoyed this movie
  • I started reading Career of Evil by Robert Galbriath . This is the third book in this series and I am totally invested in Cormoran Strike and Robin characters.
  • I love #listersgottalist challenge this month but somehow I am slacking. I might take a break in November and just pick up when ever I feel l like it
  • I finally bought myself iPhone 6s plus in gold. People asked me why not rose gold, I just said I love Gold better.
  • TV show I am loving this month - Episodes, Empire and iZombie
  • And of course the new edition to apple echo system, the apple watch is finally mine.
  • The Kind Worth Killing by Peter Swanson is definitely my favourite book this month

I hope you had an amazing OCTOBER. No matter how hard life gets, try to stay positive and look for things to be grateful for.

5 things // Why I decided to upgrade to iPhone 6S plus

What a surprise?!! Never before I changed phone twice in a year. After Apple event in September 2015 I definitely know that I will be getting one probably by early next year. Then my husband mention that he wants to upgrade his iphone 5, so I made him buy me the new phone and he inherit my old phone. (Thanks honey!)

I am super excited when I heard the news that the iPhone 6s will be released earlier this year (middle of October) compare to last year in November. As always the released date were pretty much out of stock every where. I kept checking the online store and the physical Maxis store on a daily basis to see weather they have stock of the particular iPhone that I am looking for which is 6s Plus 64GB in Gold. I might consider Rose Gold too if they have one in stock. Buying from the Apple store or Machine is totally out of the question considering the price is way to high.

And then last week when I saw the phone that I wanted was "In Stock", I immediately order one in a heartbeat. If all things went smoothly I will get my phone sometime this week.

As promise my iPhone arrived yesterday without any delay like last year. Alhamdulillah. I think Maxis has learned his lesson this year and they are very careful about giving out the information regarding the availability of the phone. No more empty promises.

iphone6splus

Here are the five reasons why I decided to upgrade to iPhone 6s plus:

#1. Camera camera camera . Finally Apple came out with a 12 Megapixel camera. I am not that crazy about Live Photo but it's still cool to have that option. I have so much pleasure with this camera phone. Front facing camera also got an upgrade. 5 Megapixel with the screen light acting like a flash. Brilliant!

#2. Fast processor. The new camera comes with faster processor A9 chip to be exact and this means I can have much more satisfying user experience when using apps and doing my work and play

#3. iOS 9 - iOS 9 works better in iPhone 6s plus like Hey Siri without connecting to power, track pad like on the keyboard and many more which I yet to discover and explore

#4. 3D Touch - The next generation of multi touch is here. Finally something new on touch screen that I am excited to try. I just hope that other developers will pick up on this and make it available with their app.  I never thought that I will fall in love with this phone. Somehow it fits perfectly in my hand like it was made just for me

#5. The only thing that's changed is everything. When my husband asked me what's the difference between iPhone 6 plus and iPhone 6s plus, I just told him the only thing that's changed is everything. I don't know why that catch phrase stuck with me. And he seems to be satisfied with the answer

If you asked me " Do I need to upgrade to 6s?", if you still used iPhone 5 and below than my answered will be YES!. It's a whole new experience.

If you are looking for which telco to go for, I recommend Maxis package. It's affordable and it's value for money. Click here to see more. I am not sponsored my Maxis I am just a customer who has been using Maxis since the beginning.

I will update and give in depth thoughts about the experience with the phone after a month. I have no idea what the battery's life is like. I hope it's still last longer like the iPhone 6 plus.

Thank you for stopping by.

Digital Project Life 2015 [Week 43] and more

I am happy that scrapbooking is finally catching up in Malaysia. There's a lot of new generation catching up with memory keeping, journaling and scrapbooking. And now it's Project Life. I am having a great time with the ladies at the Facebook group (Project Life Junkie Malaysia).

Week Forty Three is fun for me even though haze is getting worst here especially at Putrajaya. I am using project life app for these layouts.

Living with the Apple watch

I have been looking for an Apple watch at Apple Malaysia store for months now but it is still not available. I have no idea what's the hold up.

I am super excited when I found out that Direct D store sell Apple watch and they have the latest edition Apple watch which is the  38 mm sport edition in Rose Gold.

I bought myself one and never look back.

I have been living with the Apple watch for about two weeks now and here are a few things that I discovered / learned

It looks good on my wrist

I love watch and I have been wearing them for as long as I can remember. So wearing an Apple watch feels natural to me. I love this watch as much as I love my Michael Kor watch.

Be More Active

Suddenly I am more aware of my movement and calories burn than never before with the Apple watch. It's nice to know that you have not been moving through out the day. The reminder to stand up and move around is a pleasant welcome for me. I love being active but sometimes I just forgot to do it. Here to a more healthy lifestyle. Reaching my daily calories burn really makes me feel good.

Battery life

One of my main concern about Apple watch is the battery life. I am pleasantly surprise that the battery lasted through out the day. I don't mind charging the watch at night because I don't usually wear a watch when I sleep.

Love the little reminder

Ever since I have the Apple I rarely took out my phone for little reminder like when it's time for solah, whatsapp notification, message notification and even phone call. This is especially useful when I am at home where I don't carry my phone every where and while I'm doing house work. Talking on the Apple watch feels like I am in a Star Trek movie.

Myapplewatch

My main concerns at the moment with the watch are

1. The charger cable - I only have one and I am not sure if third party brand sold one here

2. Scratch - I put a tempered glass protector on the watch and so far I have bump it all around and it cracks. I am too afraid to try the watch without the protector

Overall I am pretty happy with the watch. It's beautiful, stylish and smart.  It's the internet of things that people are talking about. I wish it could do more. Maybe one day they will have a universal translator on the watch. That will be super cool.

#30daysofAlhamdlillah // Day 03

Day 03 is the day I started going back to work. Life at work even though not that exciting but still require a little bit of creativity. So today I am taking the time to be thankful for the creativity of doing things. I really love the fact that it's the only thing (well maybe one of the things) that can't be taken over by a computer.

#30daysofAlhamdlillah // Day 02

We are having a horrible haze problem at the moment. Even though it's a man made problem which can be avoided if only people care more the environment.

Unfortunately they don't and as the results other people suffered. I really really hate that but in the spirit of being thankful for the bad things I am trying very hard to see the good in the bad situation. When you think about it all your life you are blessed with clean breathable air free of charge and you forgot that it's there. Now when clean breathable air is very hard to find makes me realised how I took the clean air for granted.

May Allah have mercy on us and bless us with clean breathable air again.

#30daysofAlhamdlillah // Day 01

In all of the chaos of living my life as a mother, as a boss, as modern woman, as a muslim and many more hats that I have to wear through out the years, I realised that this year I have not make any gratitude project a.k.a be thankful for 30 days.

Well I think it's not too late to start. In fact I am going to start today. Document the things that I am thankful for daily. This year I am going to make something different. Instead of being thankful for all the blessing, I am going to be thankful for all the bad things a.k.a not so good things in my life.

I am going to call this project #30daysofAlhamdulillah. Islam thought us to be thankful (alhamdulillah) for all the things that happened to us. This is definitely a challenge for me because I would love to forget about all those painful things in my life. I guess putting all those hurtful feelings bottle up inside is not good for my soul.

This will definitely going into my project life layout. So here it goes.

- I made this journal card style to host my lists for 30 days. I am planning to keep the card simple and focus more on the journaling.

Digital Project Life [Week forty two]

I decided that today I am going to make something different. Instead of posting one week of my Project 365 I decided to jump right into the Digital Project Life Layouts for Week 42. I have the tools right in my hand to make my layout in a snap and today I decided to make something different.

I finally cave in a bought a few extra digital template from the in App Purchased right inside Project Life App. Trying and doing something new is good for me. I have been caught in a rut for a few weeks now and I wanted things to be different. I am not the kind of girl who likes to stay stuck in the same cycle over and over again.

I kind of like this week design. I can fit all my week photos into one layout/page. I don't even need to have a second page. I just throw in the second page with some random things that I think should be part of my layout this week. I really enjoy Be Fearless Themed Card and I have been using it in my layout lately.

4 years... the iPhone story

Today is the official released date of iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s plus in Malaysia. I would love to have one of the new phone but given the horrible currency exchange right now has caused the price to go up way high. I wish I am in the category of consumer who have a higher purchasing power, the one who don't even care about the price, the one who can buy a new piece of technology without breaking a sweat. I guess I am not there yet. Hopefully one day I will be there. One can dream right.

I would love to be an early adopter of new technology but I don't have enough resources to do so. I only managed to get Apple watch this month after searching for it since early this year. ( I don't understand why it took that long for Apple watch to be officially available in Malaysia. )

Then this afternoon I stumble upon this youtube video, which I think captured a little bit of how much has changed through out the years.

Watching these iPhone Ads really brings a lot of memory for me. When I first used mobile phone with a camera (I think it was Sony Ericsson I am not sure which one but I used to be a fan girl of Sony phone)  I could not see a phone can be used as my go to camera. I always hated the quality of the photo taken from a phone. The iPhone has definitely changed my mind about mobile phone photography a.k.a iphonography.

In the middle of 2011 decided to use iPhone 4 just to see what the fuss is all about. The first time I got my iPhone 4 I was not impressed. I was totally stress out by how simple the phone was. I missed a lot of features that I got from Sony Xperia that were missing from the iPhone 4.

The Apple family

Then I discovered the App Store and all the cool apps that they have like Instagram, WhatsApp, Camera +, Calendar, (I am kicking myself for not documenting what were the first few apps I ever bought in 2011) and many more. Slowly I keep adding apps to fit my lifestyle  and my need like photo editing app, camera apps, Project life app, productivity apps and many more. After awhile without realizing I slowly falling in love with the iPhone. The phone grew on you.

I kept waiting for me to grow tired of the iPhone and go back to Sony or even try Samsung Galaxy but that day have not come yet. After four years the love keep getting stronger and there's no turning back. The iPhone has become the life changing technology that I have been waiting for and I slowly get suck into the vortex of Apple ecosystem like iPad, iMac, Apple TV and the latest Apple watch. It's an investment that grew over time and really help me living my life to the fullest. (Shhh..  I am also seducing my family member to join the cult and I am very happy that most of them have join)

The other day it hit me, ever since I used iPhone 6 plus I have been using my computer less and less. Slowly these activities and process has been taken over by my iPhone like.....

  • Scrapbooking
  • photo editing
  • camera
  • daily planner
  • alarm clock
  • reminder
  • ebook
  • entertainment - music, movies
  • blogging
  • scanner
  • digital notebook
  • video camcoder
  • map
  • teaching tools for my toddler
  • monitor my workout and calories burn in  a day
  • video conferencing
  • movie tickets
  • online shopping
  • act as my digital briefcase - I use my phone to access my digital content from dropbox or google drive
  • and sometimes when the internet in my home is down I use my phone as a modem
  • recite Quran on the go
  • a remote for my Apple TV
  • and sometimes I talk to Siri just for the fun of it
I am sure over time the way I use my phone will change and there will be many more apps created. One thing for sure is mobile phone is here to stay. No matter what brand you choose be happy with it and used the technology to it's fullest potential. Loving what you have is the most important thing.

Digital Project Life [Week 41]

Today is not a good day for me just because my broadband internet connection a.k.a Unify is down again. I have to spend about fifteen minutes online explaining the same problem again.
I only got a chance to make Week 41 project life layout. I wanted to do more but I am a little bit lazy to search for old photos. Anyway I hope week 41 layout can inspire you to create even when you feel like you are in a rut. Project life App is definitely your solution.

    Undercover // the review

I have not read a Danielle Steel book in a really long time. When I read the excerpt of the book I just have to read it.

    What this book is about?

"Marshall Everett has traveled a twisting, perilous road from the jungles of South America to the streets of Paris. As an undercover DEA agent, Marshall penetrated a powerful cartel and became the trusted right-hand man of a ruthless drug lord. The price he paid was devastating, costing him everything—and everyone—he loved. Back in the U.S., on temporary assignment to the Secret Service, on the presidential detail, Marshall performs an act of heroism that changes his course forever.

Ariana Gregory has her whole future ahead of her, with an exciting life in Manhattan and a coveted job at an online fashion magazine. But when her father, recently widowed, is appointed U.S. ambassador to Argentina, she reluctantly agrees to accompany him to Buenos Aires. Then an unthinkable act of violence shatters her world. Nearly a year later, Ariana arrives in Paris, on a fragile road to recovery. There, as she strives to bury painful memories forever, she crosses paths with Marshall Everett. But dangerous forces watch her every move, and Ariana and Marshall will once more have to fight for their survival

In this breathtaking and psychologically penetrating novel, #1 New York Times bestselling author Danielle Steel explores the consequences of trauma and the perseverance of the human spirit. In Marshall and Ariana she has created two unforgettable characters confronting extraordinary challenges—who no longer need to face them alone." excerpt from amazon.com

    What do I think?

    - this book was told from two main characters Marshall and Ariana but in a third person version. I like that.
    - knowing Danielle Steel I know that this story is going to a love story in it somewhere. I think she should focus more on that.
    - the last few chapters feel a little bit rushed. I would have love to read more about Marshall and Ariana relationship. Their background story should be minimum.
    - I would have love it more if Danielle Steel keep the Paris story a little bit longer with Marshal and Adriana. I think that's my favourite part of the story.
    - I agreed that this is not one of Danielle Steel best work but it still managed to keep me interested. I've finished this book in five days which is a record for me.

I recommend this book if you like Danielle Steel and would love to read about a world that is so crazy that you would have never experience it yourself
