Photo Prompt #2: In front of me

I am happy to celebrate second of Ramadan at home. I am taking the day off just because. It turn out I needed the time out because I was so sick yesterday and I didn't get the chance to really enjoy my fasting. Today I am feeling so much better and I got a lot done in a day including folding these laundry.

JUNE FAVORITES

  • This month I celebrate my 43 years old birthday. I have mixed feelings about this. Growing older and hopefully wiser is something to look forward to but at the same time your body is changing and it's not forgiving as it used to
  • I am exited to celebrate Ramadan at the end of June and I made another #ramadandaily photo prompt. This year I am going to print out the photos and put them in my project life mini album .
  • I rediscovered the joy of reading again and I made this book wish lists for June. I got some of them in hardcopy and some of them in ebook version
  • I've finished reading two books this month and I am proud of myself. Last year I can't even finished reading one book in a year. This is definitely a big accomplishment for me.
  • And I also finished The Target in June. I started the book at the end of May
  • My Project Life 2014 and Project 365 are going strong. Finally I found a solution that is simple and straight to the point.

I hope you had an amazing June and discover many new favorites. I am looking forward to a beautiful July, True Blood, Pretty Little Liars and more photos for Project Life 2014.

day 177

day 178 - The second day at the workshop. Wow! It was so damn cold!
day 178

day 179 - I spend the day with my kids. We went to Kinokuniya and I spend a significant amount of money on books again. I just can't stop. Hopefully this Ramadan I will stop buying and spend my time on reading.
day 179

day 180 - This little boy is getting smarter each day. I am so enjoying his rapid development and his vocabs. I know I am not as young to entertain him, nevertheless he loves to play with me.

Photo Prompt #1 : routine

Alhamdulillah, I am so thankful that I am still here to celebrate Ramadan with my family. Hopefully this month will bring us closer to Allah.
The first day of Ramadan is on Sunday. My biggest challenge is wake up my kids early in the morning. Hopefully this year they are old enough to understand the meaning of Ramadan and the benefit of Sahur.

And I am happy to bring back the #ramadandaily photo challenge. This year I planned to post the photo on my blog daily, print them out and slip them into my Project Life Mini album.

Daily photo challenge for Ramadan begins today. To see the lists of this year challenge go here.

Challenge #1 : Routine

day#01

This is something that I would have like to do every chance I get. Even though I am not feeling so good today, reciting the Quran somehow gave me strength.

#thursday3 [26.06.2014]

This week definitely moves way too fast and I kinda ate way more than I should have.
I am rediscovering my passion for reading and I am falling in love with make believe world all over again.

HERE IS MY PHOTO AND FACTS FOR THE WEEK

Untitled

#1. It's the last week before Ramadan. I am so excited to meet the month of Ramadan

#2. Currently reading The Hit by David Baldacci

#3. My obsession with books is getting out of control. I bought more books this week alone and collect trilogy as well. I totally love the smell of books in my room.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Think about it this way…If you take one picture and write down three facts each week — at the end of the year you’ll have more than 50 photos of yourself and 150 facts about what life has been like. It would make such an epic All About Me book — and most of the work is already done."

Project Life [Week 25]

Week 25 is kind of hectic and crazy for me. I only have three days working at the office and two days traveling to Melaka. On top of that that weekend was my birthday weekend. I hate going away or working during my birthday

My routine was a little bit off and my diet is flying out of the roof. I find it very difficult to maintain a healthy lifestyle when everywhere you go there are a lot of unhealthy choice .

Finally I got the time and the opportunity to sit down and assemble my page for week 25. I didn't change anything except the photos and add in different journal cards from Storyteller June Kit by Just Jamie.

How to get the most out of your visit to Panda Conservation Centre

 panda
I am a little bit excited to get a chance to visit the two Chinese giant pandas which mark the 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between Malaysia and China. They are staying at the Conservation Centre, National Zoo for ten years. And for the first time ever, I have a chance to see them up close and personal before the Conservation Centre open to public after the launching ceremony.

If you are planning a trip to visit Panda Conservation Centre at National Zoo this year, I have a few tips to help you get the most out of your visit:

1. Plan ahead
Always check with the Zoo Negara website for the latest information. So far they have been updating the site with new attractions, information and operating hours. Remember that the entrance fee to the giant panda is not included in the Zoo Entrance fee.

2. Remember the rules
Before you enter the Panda Conservation Centre, you are going to wait in the main entrance until they have cleared the previous visitor. There are limits of how many people can enter the conservation at one time.

And they will also remind you the rules before entering:
    - Shhh no loud noise
   - no flash photography
    - there's 15 minutes time limit for each visit

3. Try not to visit them during lunch hour

I made a mistake of going to the centre during lunch hour. Those two pandas were sleeping comfortably. So cute though but I can't see them move around or play around with each other. Try to be there in the morning when they are active and in the mood for company. I think most of the animals outside were also sleeping due to the heat and it's after their lunch.

Have you visit the two giant panda?
Are you planning to visit them with your family?

Note: I secretly wish they were given a Malay name like Hang Tuah or Hang Jebat or Puteri Gunung Ledang or Melor or Mawar.. something traditional. hehehe...
Anyway, I hope they are having a great time here and will blossom into beautiful panda  (one of Allah's  beautiful animal )

Al Fatihah to my cousin

JB004

"Arol passed away peacefully due to Cervical Cancer Stage 4 , at 9:35 pm 23 June 2014 . Innalillahiwa Innalillahirojiun..al fatihah" excerpt from Boy's fb status.

We used to played together when we were little. We grew apart as we grew up and grew older. Nevertheless we are family by blood and there's a piece of me in you. I may not be there with you or for you in the end but you are always in my heart and my prayer.

May Allah bless your soul. You are forever in our prayers and our hearts.

Al Fatihah.

The Fault in Our Stars and Fangirl

The Fault in Our Stars by John Green is the second book I've finished this month. This is the first John Green's book I read.

"Despite the tumor-shrinking medical miracle that has bought her a few years, Hazel has never been anything but terminal, her final chapter inscribed upon diagnosis. But when a gorgeous plot twist named Augustus Waters suddenly appears at Cancer Kid Support Group, Hazel’s story is about to be completely rewritten" excerpt from amazon.com

What I like about the book
  • I really love the way John Green portray Hazel in the book
  • It is well written for a very serious subject
  • Of course I cried
  • I can't wait to see the movie
  • and I also like the audible version of the book.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell is the third book I've finished this month. Another young adult book in my collection and this is definitely the first book I owned by this author. And there's no audible version of the book

day 167

"Cath's sister has mostly grown away from fandom, but Cath can't let go. She doesn't want to.
Now that they're going to college, Wren has told Cath she doesn't want to be roommates. Cath is on her own, completely outside of her comfort zone. She's got a surly roommate with a charming, always-around boyfriend, a fiction-writing professor who thinks fan fiction is the end of the civilized world, a handsome classmate who only wants to talk about words . . . And she can't stop worrying about her dad, who's loving and fragile and has never really been alone." excerpt from amazon.com

What I like about the book
  • I can totally relate to Cath
  • Ahhhh to be young and in love
  • Reading this book brings back a lot of memories for me
  • I don't really get the fan fiction part of the story but I am willing to ignore that just because I love the characters
  • I wish I cloud write thousands of words in a day
My next book is either The Hit (Will Robie) by David Baldacci or Mr. Mercedes: A Novel by Stephen King. I haven't decided yet

My book Wish Lists June 2014

Ever since I got reacquainted with books, ebooks and audiobooks I have been obsessed with all these amazing stories out there waiting to be read and discovered. Things are definitely different this time around. It's more rich with varieties of genre and content from authors with great imagination.

And after I stumble upon booktuber, things have become out of control for me. In less than a month I have read two books and I am already on my third book which definitely a record for me. My younger self might think this was nothing because she used to read two or three books a month and probably 15 books a year. But my older self is definitely a different story. Finishing a book in a year is consider great achievement!

Since my birthday this coming this Saturday, I am planning to buy myself books as a gift to me. I know I might not have the time to finished them all but owning a hardcopy books that I can touch and smell is totally different experience. I just love the smell of books. Period. There's nothing like it.

So here are my book wish list for June 2014. I am not sure if I can find the book at my local bookstore but one thing is for sure I can order these from amazon.com wish lists

1. The Begining of Everything - Robyn Schneider
"
Varsity tennis captain, Ezra Faulkner, was supposed to be homecoming king, but that was before—before his girlfriend cheated on him, before a car accident shattered his leg, and before he fell in love with unpredictable new girl Cassidy Thorpe.
As Kirkus Reviews said in a starred review, "Schneider takes familiar stereotypes and infuses them with plenty of depth. Here are teens who could easily trade barbs and double entendres with the characters that fill John Green's novels." Funny, smart, and including everything from flash mobs to blanket forts to a poodle who just might be the reincarnation of Jay Gatsby, The Beginning of Everything is a refreshing contemporary twist on the classic coming-of-age novel—a heart-wrenching story about how difficult it is to play the part that people expect, and how new beginnings can stem from abrupt and tragic endings" excerpt from amazon.com

2. Vampire Academy - Richelle Mead
"St. Vladimir’s Academy isn’t just any boarding school—it’s a hidden place where vampires are educated in the ways of magic and half-human teens train to protect them. Rose Hathaway is a Dhampir, a bodyguard for her best friend Lissa, a Moroi Vampire Princess. They’ve been on the run, but now they’re being dragged back to St. Vladimir’s—the very place where they’re most in danger. . . .
Rose and Lissa become enmeshed in forbidden romance, the Academy’s ruthless social scene, and unspeakable nighttime rituals. But they must be careful lest the Strigoi—the world’s fiercest and most dangerous vampires—make Lissa one of them forever." excerpt from amazon.com
3. To All the Boys I've Loved Before  - Jenny Han
"Lara Jean’s love life goes from imaginary to out of control in this heartfelt novel from the New York Timesbestselling author of The Summer I Turned Pretty series.
What if all the crushes you ever had found out how you felt about them…all at once?
Lara Jean Song keeps her love letters in a hatbox her mother gave her. They aren’t love letters that anyone else wrote for her; these are ones she’s written. One for every boy she’s ever loved—five in all. When she writes, she pours out her heart and soul and says all the things she would never say in real life, because her letters are for her eyes only. Until the day her secret letters are mailed, and suddenly, Lara Jean’s love life goes from imaginary to out of control" excerpt from amazon.com
"Beth Fremont and Jennifer Scribner-Snyder know that somebody is monitoring their work e-mail. (Everybody in the newsroom knows. It's company policy.) But they can't quite bring themselves to take it seriously. They go on sending each other endless and endlessly hilarious e-mails, discussing every aspect of their personal lives.
Meanwhile, Lincoln O'Neill can't believe this is his job now- reading other people's e-mail. When he applied to be "internet security officer," he pictured himself building firewalls and crushing hackers- not writing up a report every time a sports reporter forwards a dirty joke.
When Lincoln comes across Beth's and Jennifer's messages, he knows he should turn them in. But he can't help being entertained-and captivated-by their stories" excerpt from amazon.com
5. Lola and the Boy Next Door - Stephanie Perkins
"Lola Nolan is a budding costume designer, and for her, the more outrageous, sparkly, and fun the outfit, the better. And everything is pretty perfect in her life (right down to her hot rocker boyfriend) until the Bell twins, Calliope and Cricket, return to the negihborhood. When Cricket, a gifted inventor, steps out from his twin sister's shadow and back into Lola's life, she must finally reconcile a lifetime of feelings for the boy next door." excerpt from amazon.com
6. PODs  - Michelle Pickett
"Seventeen-year-old Eva is a chosen one. Chosen to live, while others meet a swift and painful death from an incurable virus so lethal, a person is dead within days of symptoms emerging. In the POD system, a series of underground habitats built by the government, she waits with the other chosen for the deadly virus to claim those above. Separated from family and friends, it's in the PODs she meets David. And while true love might not conquer all, it's a balm for the broken soul. After a year, scientists believe the population has died, and without living hosts, so has the virus. That's the theory, anyway. But when the PODs are opened, survivors find the surface holds a vicious secret. The virus mutated, infecting those left top-side and creating... monsters. Eva and David hide from the infected in the abandoned PODs. Together they try to build a life--a new beginning. But the infected follow and are relentless in their attacks. Leaving Eva and David to fight for survival, and pray for a cure." excerpt from amazon.com
7. Anna and the French Kiss  - Stephanie Perkins
"Anna is looking forward to her senior year in Atlanta, where she has a great job, a loyal best friend, and a crush on the verge of becoming more. Which is why she is less than thrilled about being shipped off to boarding school in Paris - until she meets Etienne St. Clair: perfect, Parisian (and English and American, which makes for a swoon-worthy accent), and utterly irresistible. The only problem is that he's taken, and Anna might be, too, if anything comes of her almost-relationship back home.
As winter melts into spring, will a year of romantic near - misses end with the French kiss Anna - and readers - have long awaited?" excerpt from amazon.com
8. Delirium  - Lauren Oliver
"In an alternate United States, love has been declared a dangerous disease, and the government forces everyone who reaches eighteen to have a procedure called the Cure. Living with her aunt, uncle, and cousins in Portland, Maine, Lena Haloway is very much looking forward to being cured and living a safe, predictable life. She watched love destroy her mother and isn't about to make the same mistakes.
But with ninety-five days left until her treatment, Lena meets enigmatic Alex, a boy from the Wilds who lives under the government's radar. What will happen if they do the unthinkable and fall in love?" excerpt from amazon.com
9. The Innocent - David Baldacci
"It begins with a hit gone wrong. Robie is dispatched to eliminate a target unusually close to home in Washington, D.C. But something about this mission doesn't seem right to Robie, and he does the unthinkable. He refuses to kill. Now, Robie becomes a target himself and must escape from his own people.
Fleeing the scene, Robie crosses paths with a wayward teenage girl, a fourteen-year-old runaway from a foster home. But she isn't an ordinary runaway-her parents were murdered, and her own life is in danger. Against all of his professional habits, Robie rescues her and finds he can't walk away. He needs to help her.
Even worse, the more Robie learns about the girl, the more he's convinced she is at the center of a vast cover-up, one that may explain her parents' deaths and stretch to unimaginable levels of power.
Now, Robie may have to step out of the shadows in order to save this girl's life . . . and perhaps his own." excerpt from amazon.com
10. The 9th Girl The 9th Girl - Tami Hoag

"On a frigid New Year’s Eve in Minneapolis, a young woman is found brutally murdered—the ninth so far this year in a string of grisly slayings. Homicide detectives Sam Kovac and Nikki Liska fear that it’s the work of a serial killer they call Doc Holiday, a transient who has brought his gruesome game to a new and more terrifying level. But as Kovac and Liska uncover the truth, they find that the monsters in the ninth girl’s life may live closer to home. And even as another young woman disappears, they have to ask the question: Which is the greater evil—the devil you know or the devil you don’t?" excerpt from amazon.com

11. Gone Girl: A Novel  - Gillian Flynn
"On a warm summer morning in North Carthage, Missouri, it is Nick and Amy Dunne’s fifth wedding anniversary. Presents are being wrapped and reservations are being made when Nick’s clever and beautiful wife disappears. Husband-of-the-Year Nick isn’t doing himself any favors with cringe-worthy daydreams about the slope and shape of his wife’s head, but passages from Amy's diary reveal the alpha-girl perfectionist could have put anyone dangerously on edge. Under mounting pressure from the police and the media—as well as Amy’s fiercely doting parents—the town golden boy parades an endless series of lies, deceits, and inappropriate behavior. Nick is oddly evasive, and he’s definitely bitter—but is he really a killer?  excerpt from amazon.com
12. Unlucky 13 (Women's Murder Club)  - James Patterson
"San Francisco Detective Lindsay Boxer is loving her life as a new mother. With an attentive husband, a job she loves, plus best friends who can talk about anything from sex to murder, things couldn't be better.

Then the FBI sends Lindsay a photo of a killer from her past, and her happy world is shattered. The picture captures a beautiful woman at a stoplight. But all Lindsay sees is the psychopath behind those seductive eyes: Mackie Morales, the most deranged and dangerous mind the Women's Murder Club has ever encountered.

In this pulse-racing, emotionally charged novel by James Patterson, the Women's Murder Club must find a killer--before she finds them first." excerpt from amazon.com
