My Book Lists 2016 part 2

It's August already and there are a lot of new books available and caught my attention. I wanted to take a week off from work and just spend my time reading. That would be awesome!

Here are a few books that got my attention this last few weeks

#1. The Woman in Cabin 10 by Ruth Ware
The title alone got me curious. What happened to the woman in cabin 10?

#2. Truly Madly Guilty by Liane Moriarty
My favorite author got a new book, of course I wanted to read it. This will definitely be in my shopping cart and I am going to buy the audiobook too.

#3. Her Final Breath by Robert Dugoni
I have read the first book of this series (My Sister's Grave ) and I totally enjoyed the book. I can't get enough of Tracy Crosswhite world and I wanted to read more of her.

#4. In the clearing by Robert Dugoni
The third book of Tracy Crosswhite series and I want to read it

#5. The Devil's Work by Mark Edward
I am looking forward to reading this book. I will definitely buy this immediately when it becomes available. Mark Edward story has always managed to surprise.

#6. Everything we keep by Kerri Lonsdale
The synopsis of the book look promising, mysterious and finding love again is something I enjoyed reading.

#7. Little Girl gone by Alexandra Burt
The book description is good enough to peak my curiosity. I am hooked. Can't wait to read.

#8. The Crossing by Michael Connelly
It has been a long time since the last time I read Harry Bosh series. This book definitely a good one to continue reading the series.

#9. Don't You Cry by Mary Kubica
I am not sure about this book but the cover of the book make me look at the book the second time. There's something about the book that I am drawn too and I don't know why.
So naturally I wanted to find out why.

#10. All the missing girls by Megan Miranda
The review said that this is a smart, suspenseful, and emotionally complex thriller. I wanted to know more.

So many great books waiting to be read. I wish I've learned speed reading skill when I was younger. I would very much like to read more than I already have.

Every moment is magic // PL app

I am not feeling so good today. Sometimes it's easier to get suck into other's people madness and you started to wonder why am I a target? I am determine to not let little things bother me and I have to be strong.

Documenting my life with project life app has been a saviour for me for many years. This hobby has managed to make me happy. 😀

HERE ARE MY SCRAPBOOK LAYOUTS FOR THIS WEEK SO FAR

A day in a life Live life Not perfect Page1 Page2 You make me smile
All of these layouts were created with Project Life app on my phone. I can't believe that in 2016 I do more work on my phone compare to my computer. Amazing how this little device taken over your workflow little by little. And it's a welcome change for me. Now I have  to print these layouts in a photobook so that I can looked at them all the time in one place.

My Sister's grave // book review

I have finished reading this book in less then a week because it was so good! I bought the kindle edition and the audiobook at a discounted price. I wish every ebook sold at this price ($4.99 for the book and $1.99 for the audiobook)

What the book is all about?
"Tracy Crosswhite has spent twenty years questioning the facts surrounding her sister Sarah’s disappearance and the murder trial that followed. She doesn’t believe that Edmund House—a convicted rapist and the man condemned for Sarah’s murder—is the guilty party. Motivated by the opportunity to obtain real justice, Tracy became a homicide detective with the Seattle PD and dedicated her life to tracking down killers.
When Sarah’s remains are finally discovered near their hometown in the northern Cascade mountains of Washington State, Tracy is determined to get the answers she’s been seeking. As she searches for the real killer, she unearths dark, long-kept secrets that will forever change her relationship to her past—and open the door to deadly danger." excerpt from amazon.com

5 lessons I learned from this book
1. Letting go of the past is the key to moving on. Tracy definitely carried the burden of leaving her sister for twenty years and it destroyed her marriage and her life.

2. Blaming yourself for what happened can really destroyed you.

3. Fabricating evidence and lies for a good reason can have a bad consequences. I may not agreed with what her father did but I can understand the reason. The ends still doesn't justified the means. Data integrity should be protected

4. Loosing someone that you loved unexpectedly can destroyed your life if you let it

5. Evils can comes in many forms. Crazy people doesn't seem crazy on the outside. I totally did not expect the ending. In the end when I read the chapter from Sarah's perspective I was sad and scary at the same time just because I have already know what happened to Sarah. It feels so real.

I highly recommend this book!

Currently reading Her Final Breath by Robert Dugoni ( the second book of Tracy Crosswhite series)

A letter to my future self {2020}

Dear Haniz

I am writing this letter today to mark the day I thought about the future. I seldom think about what my life would be like in the future but today I saw myself in the future and it's a little bit blurry.
Yesterday I attended National Geospatial Information Symposium Day at PICC. One of the keynote speaker talk about GIS for a better life and our future when 2020 comes. It got me thinking and wondering about what the world would be like in 2020. It's only 4 years to go. We are definitely a good planner but when it comes to implementation there's a lot of challenges that we must overcome.

I would very much like to see Malaysia blooming into a beautiful and corruption free country. The leader and the people moving in the same direction in harmony. I am not sure if you are almost there in terms of our target for Vision 2020.

Just to remind you .......
"Vision 2020 is not only a mission for Malaysia to advance economically, but also for the nation to achieve an ideal social and political environment. Apart from that, it emphasises on the betterment of governmental system, life quality, social and spiritual values, national pride as well as confidence.

To refresh our memory, here are the nine key challenges in Vision 2020:
Challenge 1: Establishing a united Malaysian nation made up of one Bangsa Malaysia.
Challenge 2: Creating a psychologically liberated, secure and developed Malaysian society.
Challenge 3: Fostering and developing a mature democratic society.
Challenge 4: Establishing a fully moral and ethical society.
Challenge 5: Establishing a matured liberal and tolerant society
Challenge 6: Establishing a scientific and progressive society.
Challenge 7: Establishing a fully caring society.

Challenge 8: Ensuring an economically just society, in which there is a fair and equitable  distribution of the wealth of  the nation.
Challenge 9: Establishing a prosperous society with an economy that is fully competitive, dynamic, robust and resilient. " excerpt from malaysiandigest.com

Four years for now, I would very much like to have or see.....

- financial stability and freedom

- more confident and calmer

- not to worry about very basic thing in life like food, shelter and clothing

- free high speed internet

- flexible working hours - no more punch card

- people are more kinder to each other, no more stealing other people husband

- I am not sure about Bangsa Malaysia but at least if we can speak the same language that would be the start

- I wonder what the next smart phone would be like, I definitely will have one of those

- will I be a grandma in 2020? hemmmm that's a little bit scary

- healthy lifestyle is the norm and healthy food are easy to find

- Hajj perhaps

- exercise and working out is part of everybody lifestyle instead of facebook

- I would like to visit Paris and London before I retired, make sure you plan for it

- renovate my home, make sure the plan start moving this year

- will the government 3.0 be a reality in 2020?

- Am I still alive four years from now?

My intention for writing this letter to you, as a time capsule to capture what I am thinking about, what my hope for, what I intend to do. I intend to read this letter again four years from now and see how I evolved, how Malaysian evolved four years from now.

A little facts to capture right now
- Malaysian Prime Minister is Dato' Sri Najb bin Razak
- Malaysian ringgit is at RM4.2 to USD1.00
- Petrol price right now RON95 RM2.10
- Movie ticket -RM10.00
- Netflix is available in Malaysia for RM30
- iflix is the fist streaming video services in Malaysia
- Tun Dr Mahathir is still alive and he is worried about where Malaysian is heading with the current management
- facebook is the place where people talk about other people and it's getting out of control
- the young generation has moved on to instagram, periscope and snapchat
- Twitter is still the best mean of communication
- Millions of content is created daily
- Paper planner is the rage right now
- H&L 1 litter milk cost RM6.60
- ooo we are still suffering from the implementation of 6% GST nation wide. Most of the price are higher now, not one thing decreased because of GST. Rich people get richer, poor people suffer.
- Olympic RIO 2016 is happening right now
- torrent search engine closed!
- ebook reader is the best thing that ever happened! I started to love reading again
- washi tape obsession is a thing now
- Project Life app is the most amazing app for scrapbooking at the moment

I am hoping that four years from now things will be different and hopefully for the better. I am hoping that the price will decrease and the currency will be back to normal.

Love
your younger self

When you have a little boy

I decided to have a family photo session at white studio near our house. It has been a long time since the last time we had our photo taken professionally.

One thing that I forgot to prepare for and anticipate was there's a little boy in the house and he does not work according to our timetable. My mistake. I should have set the appointment earlier instead of later in the afternoon

You can go from this.....

to this.....

and this....

in a blink of an eye

It's amazingly how little things can set him off and we ended up being just the five of us or less. Getting him to cooperate when he said no was impossible!
