Lets talk about Planners

When I was organizing my office for the new year I came across an old planner that I used religiously for five years from late 1999 until early 2005. It was a Timesystem. Amazingly when I look up on the internet, the company and the system still exists.

Back then all you need is A5 binder, a pencil ( we were taught to use pencil not pen), a daily inserts for the year and you are good to go. I basically carry this planner every where I went.

You basically map out your month and your year base on this system. I think we are supposed to use activities checklist to jot down all the things that need doing.

I was a young executive hungry for life. Juggling married life, a career and a mother of two was tough. This planner really help a lot. Then in 2005 we have problem maintaining the system because the inserts was too expensive me. I tried using the system with printable from Microsoft Outlook but it just wasn't the same. In the end, I only used my Microsoft Outlook calendar and a notebook as my so call planner.

So as all people that has gone digital, I have managed my life and my day by using only digital calendar like Microsoft outlook and now google calendar. That only solve one part of the whole binder system. I am missing something.

But then in late 2014 I stumbled upon youtube videos about planners when I was searching for organisation tips. Suddenly a whole new world is open up to me. I have never heard about Erin Condren Life Planner, Kikki K planner, Filofax planner and many more. It's like whole new world out there waiting for me to explore.

The journey so far has been amazing. I have bought lots of planners, stickers, washi tapes. pens, color pencils and meet a lot of friends through planner community in Malaysia. One thing is for sure it got me to write again including starting to journal.

I couldn't be more happy to report that after a year keeping track of the planner world and community I realised that I love have a binder system with me again. I might not make my planner pretty with lots of washi, stickers and things like that but I still take the time to draw, color and doodle in my planner. There are nothing like having a pen and paper to write on. A computer definitely cannot replace that feeling.

I might not stop buying planners and try them out but I am sure that this quest will go on for a long time. I am not sure if I will implement TimeSystem again but with all the inserts I can create and print at home, I might give the system a chance again. I wonder if the system changed in the last ten years!

I guess once a planner girl, always a planner girl

My Book Lists for 2016 part 1

It February already and I have not make any book lists this year. I am going to keep my book lists to a minimal amount this year. My plan this year is to only buy only ebook version of these books. I am trying to keep my physical book to a minimum because I am running out of space and I really like to develop a habit of reading a digital copy of a book and listen to audiobook every chance I got.

Here are a few books that got my attention this year

1) No Coming Back by  Keith Houghton

The cover alone somehow managed to grab my attention. Somehow loneliness comes to mind. I don't know why. I have never read a book by this author. I might grab this one from kindle right away.

2) After Anna by Alex Lake
I have been eyeing this book for awhile now. Missing girl is not really a book I like to read. It's a parent's nightmare but the mystery of why after anna was return got my attention. Definitely worth the read for me.

3) The Girl with a clock heart by Peter Swanson
I got to read this book after reading The Kind Worth Killing.

4) Why Not Me? by Mindy Kailing
I have been suck into The Mindy Project since late last year. I just can't get enough of her. So I am intrigue with this book especially when it's title Why Not Me?

5) NYPD Red 4 by James Patterson

The fourth book of this series. I love the first two book and definitely will put this one on my lists

6) The Guilty by David Baldacci
I have been a fan of Wille Robie character for a long time. Naturally I want to read more story about him. Can't wait to dig in.

7) Crash & Burn by Lisa Gardner

I haven't read Lisa Gardner book in a really long time. When I read the synopsis of this book I am totally hook. I want to know more.

8) the Daughter by Jane Shemilt
I am going to give this book a chance. The mysteries all around it have me curious to know more.

9) Twisted by Andrew E. Kauffman
It has been a long time since I last read thriller related to doctor and hospital. I hope that this book is not too dark for me and my heart can handle it.

10) Catch Your Death by Louise Voss and Mark Edward
Fear is Contagious.. hem why not. I think most of the book in this lists are thriller.

I am currently reading
1. The life changing magic of tidying up by Marie Kondo
 - this book is very interesting. I have never meet anyone who loves tidying up up to a point of obsession. I like her method but somehow I just can't find the time to collect all my clothes from all over the house and put them on the floor. Thinking about it alone makes me tired. I can only handle on room at a time but to her that is a mistake. You should start tidying up not by location but by category. I like her idea of keeping things that spark joy.

2. What you Wish for by Mark Edwards.

I am hoping to reach my goal before June so that I can make another reading goal.

Old and New

I am still in holiday mood. Life at home is amazing. I finally got to do what I wanted to , enjoy life at a slower pace. I don't know why when I am at home I don't think about blogging as much but when I'm at work I constantly thinking about it. Hmmmmm. Is my mind trying to tell me something?

Any way I only managed to make only three layouts this week. Nothing much happened and I scrap at lightning speed thanks to Project Life App.

HERE ARE MY SCRAPBOOK LAYOUTS FOR THIS WEEK

2000 photos - I really love that I can still scan my old photos and give Project Life touch to it. If only this app were available back then I think I may not have lost a lot of photos and memories from when I just started to build a life as a mother and a wife.
