Project Life 2014 Volume 02 Photo Book

I have been a fan of photo book since 2011 when I discovered Photobook Malaysia. At first ordering a photo book was a little bit expensive for me. After that I discovered that Photobook Malaysia always offer discounts through out the year to encourage consumer to order from them. After that I never paid a full price again.

In January 2015 I put together Project Life 2014 Volume 02 album using photobook designer apps. Putting together this album was easy for me because I have already made the layouts for Week 28 - Week 52. I just have to design the front cover and and the back.

Inside first page. I put the front cover photo with a quote.

And these are the inside of the photo book with all the weeks

These pages were from Project Life app. The resolution of the images are high enough to print full size on 11x11" book.

The last page.

And this is the back cover. I kept it simple with just a square photo, my social media handle and my blog url.

I am so looking forward to 2015 memory keeping and photo book album.

5 things // What I learned from one year of doing project life 2014

I discovered Project Life in late 2012. At first I thought Project Life is a different way of documenting my story. After reading and researching the philosophy behind Project Life I realized that Project Life is scrapbooking. It's the core of scrapbooking - photos and journaling presented in  more pleasant way, visually. Becky Higgins is brilliant when she came out with the idea. It's what I have been looking for my whole life. Beautiful and practical at the same time.

As always before I try anything tangible I always goes for the digital version of things. It's more easier for me to make things digitally, makes mistakes, delete them and redo them all over again. After I watched Cathy Zielske's Best Practice for Digital Scrapbooking last December 2013, I said to my self that I can do this. It's digital and I can print a photo book with my layouts.

In the early 2014, I decided to do Project 365 ( take a photo a day project- which I have been doing for quiet some time now) and Digital Project Life seems to be the best system to do so. According to Becky Higgins, Project Life was born based on Project 365! How cool is that!

As always I've love list and I thought it would be great to make a list of things I have learned after doing a year of Project Life.

1. Simplify the process

I realized that choose a different template every week was too stressful for me. So early on I decided to use just one or two template every week. Having a predefined template sitting on my computer improved my process tremendously. All I have to do at the end of the week is just insert the photos for the week, some journaling and digital filler, I got a pretty layouts for the week.

2. Using Digital Kits designed for Project Life Helped Me A Lot

As a digital scrapbooker I have tons of digital kits in my collection. Hunting those kits for a perfect journaling cards or fillers can be stressful. I just when to Becky Higgins Digital Shop website and only buy the kit that I need. I kept these type of kits in my Digital Project Life folders for easy access.

3. Plan, plan and plan

After watching Cathy's video, I immediate made a plan and goals on what I want to achieved in 2014. I know I am going to take a photo a day for a year, so I made folders like Cathy suggested ahead of time. Set a weekly time to upload the photos to my folders, label them and write a few thing about the photos that I want to remember either in my blog or my dayone app.

4. Establish a routine / habit

Since I've been doing Project 365 for so long, getting the habit of taking photos daily was not a problem for me. My biggest problem is taking a different type of photos to showcase what my day was like on a daily basis. Have a camera with you all the time really help with the habit of taking a photo a day.

5. Dropbox is the best thing ever

Dropbox really changed my life. All of the folders and the digital kits are sitting inside my Dropbox. This way I can upload my photos directly from my phone and I can access those photos from my computer. It's the best tool ever!

And when Becky introduce Project Life app in September 2014, it totally changed the way I make Project Life layouts. Now I can make my layouts anytime, anywhere. And this app can open all of my files from Dropbox.

I am happy to report that I have finished with my Digital Project Life 2014. I made two photo books with the layouts. One I printed out in the middle of the year and the remaining weeks I printed out earlier this year. I used Photobook Malaysia to make my book. I usually wait when the one I need was on sale before I made my order. That way I can safe a lot of money and the same time I can have a beautiful book that I can enjoy with the rest of the family.

#thursday3 [05.02.2015]

I am loving my #thursday3 project. Having a little peace of me documented every Thursday in my blog gives me a sense of purpose and motivation to be the best that I can be.
So far I printed out all of my #thursday3 photos using my Canon Selphy and put them in my Project Life Mini Album. I use a journaling card to write down my facts for the week.

#thursday3 [05.02.2015]

#1. Suddenly I am running out of ideas on what to write in my blog. I have so many ideas but somehow I lacked time to plan and execute them.
#2. I am loving my February. Looking forward to take some time off from work.
#3. I am currently watching The Flash- the spin off from Arrow tv series. I am not sure how I feel about the show yet but I am still watching.

Think about it this way…If you take one picture and write down three facts each week — at the end of the year you’ll have more than 50 photos of yourself and 150 facts about what life has been like. It would make such an epic All About Me book — and most of the work is already done." -
Follow along each week on instagram using the hashtag #thursday3 dan tagged me @hanizeyecandy. I want to see your selfie and read about you

Project Life Week 05

Hello and welcome to my blog. I hope you had a great long weekend. As for me, Week five was a fun ride. In a week I do so many things and been to so many places and I am so looking forward to just chill and relax at home. For Week five I made these layouts using Project Life app on my iPhone with Project 52 kit from the in app purchased. So very helpful. With this kit I can make my week to week layout on a fly. Not so much thinking needed. I only have to add the jornaling.

Project 365 [ Week 05]

I am so looking forward to February. I am going to take a long break from work. I am sure if I am able to update my blog during that time. Schedule post seems to be one option but I still need to find the time to plan and execute. At this moment I am not sure when I will find the time to do so.
Anyway take a peak at my week five in photos. I have been loving the week so far.

DAY 026- My dear son is getting bigger each day. He is more aware of his surrounding especially when there's camera right in front of him. Getting him to corporate took a lot of creativity on my part.

Day 026

DAY 027- One rare moment when he is awake and in a good mood. I love taking selfies with this guy. His expression is priceless.

Day 027

DAY 028- I am obsess and crazy with washi tapes either the physical one or the digital one. I wish the digital washi tapes are as beautiful and colorful as the physical version. So many projects comes to mind when there's washi tape in the mix.
Day 028

DAY 029- Another minor obsession - to do list or post it notes. Things that I can used in my art journal, planner and journal.
Day 029

DAY 030- Happy one year old birthday to  my niece - Aisha. You are so cute and adorable. I just wish I had made the time to see you often. You are growing up way too fast.
Day 030

DAY 031 - Another trip to Kuantan. This time the weather is good but the traffic was bad on the way there.
Day 031

DAY 032- Spending the time at Teluk Chempedak beach. Wow! So many people and there's a lot of activities at the beach. Oh and Happy Federal Territory Day to those who celebrate. And that mean it's a holiday tomorrow.
Day 032

These are my life in photos for week five for 2015  . So many things happened and if I don't take the time to document them I might miss a lot. I still believe when you took the time to document the every day and the good things that happened in your life, you will be more grateful. Just saying.

Do you join Project 365 this year?
If you do linked up in the comment, I would love to
see your work and a glimpse of your life in 2015
