OCTOBER FAVORITES

  • I am still so obsess with Project Life App. I am making most of my scrapbook pages using this app
  • I found a new TV Series which I like - "How to Get Away with Murder" by Shonda Rhimes. It's such an interesting story.
  • October is definitely not a good reading month for me. I only got to finished reading only two books - Mr Mercedes by Stephen King and Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn. Both books were so twisted and keeps me on edge the whole time. Love love them.

  • I also celebrate my son's fifteen birthday this month. I just can't believe that this boy is fifteen this month.

  • Font that I am loving is BeckyScript font from DigitalProjectLife store

#thursday3 [30.10.2014]

What a year?!! I never would have thought that 2014 is going to be one long year. So many things happened and so many things need to be deal with. I just hope I can survive the next two months of 2014

HERE ARE MY PHOTO AND FACTS FOR THE WEEK

Untitled

#1. Mostly this week I was working out of the office. Love the change of scenery.

#2. I just finished reading Gone Girl book by Gillian Flynn.  Wow! What a book?!! It was so twisted and brilliant and felt familiar at the same time.

#3. Looking forward to drool over iPhone 6 this weekend. Hopefully things will go smoothly as plan

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Think about it this way…If you take one picture and write down three facts each week — at the end of the year you’ll have more than 50 photos of yourself and 150 facts about what life has been like. It would make such an epic All About Me book — and most of the work is already done."

Follow along each week using the hashtag #thursday3 dan tagged me @hanizeyecandy. I want to see your selfie and read about you

I was having so much fun playing with these two new kits from Pixelily Designs this month. Love the fall and spooky feeling of these kits. It reminds of a lot of rainy day and monsoon season.

5 things to do with cellphone photos

I went to "Malam Yayasan Anak-anak Yatim Sultanah Haminah" (YAYSH) Dinner at Shangri-la Hotel, Kuala Lumpur last Sunday. It was a charity dinner to raise money to support this foundation. There were a lot of important people and some politicians were there to support this foundation.

One thing I noticed was almost all of the attendee took photos using their smart phones. It got me thinking and wondering what did they do with all the photos taken and exchange through Whatsapp? I bet that one month from now or one year from now these beautiful photos and memories taken during this important and meaningful event get lost through time and be over taken by other memories and events.

When I asked some people or some of my friends what did they do with all the photos, they said shared them using WhatsApp and that is all they did to the photos. Or some that is adventurous enough they share them on Facebook or Instagram.

I really believe that it is about time that we do something with all the photos taken with our smart phones. Other than sitting quietly somewhere in the jungle of digital fortress, we need to get them out, showcase them and give them proper home where we can enjoy them any time we want.

I have been a memory keeper for as long as I can remember and that is a long time. I learned a lot over the years. Here I would love to share with you some of the things that I learn to preserve those memories. Forget about scrapbooking in traditional sense, think more about memory keeping instead.

5things-cellphonephotos

5 things that you can do with your cellphone photos

#1. Get them out of your phone - a.k.a have a backup copy of the photos somewhere else
The first rule of have digital photos is to backup them. Technology fails and so does your phone. It is very very very important to back up them regularly.
I usually backup my cellphone photos once every two weeks and upload them to flickr every month for backup purposes.

#2. Invest in a good photo printer - It might be a little bit expensive compare to printing them professionally at the store but it convenient to print at the comfort of your own home. Select a few beautiful photos from your collection, print them out and put them in a frame. I highly recommend Canon Selphy CP910 and Instax Share Printer.

#3. Make a photo book - Right now is so much easier to send your photos for printing on a photo book. I have been using the service from Photo book Malaysia and I am totally happy with the results.

#4. Give scrapbooking a chance - Yes definitely! If you want to got a head and give scrapbooking a chance. I am 100% agree with Elise on this one. There are so many ways to scrapbook, Project Life system is one of the easiest way to scrapbook.

#5. Don't be afraid to journal - One thing that is lacking in cellphone photos is the story behind the photos. It's about time we make the time to journal. Now more than ever the tools to help us journal is available in our hand. Yes, our cellphone can be use to journal also. Invest in a journal app to help you organise your thoughts and document your photos. I used Day One app because of the simplicity and the ability to print my journal into pdf format.

If you feel more adventurous , invest in these apps to make memory keeping more fun.

Now you have a basic idea what to do with your cellphone photos, why not start now. Get those photos out of your phone and play with them a little bit.

I want to touch [....]

BOOKS!!! October Book Haul. It's that time of the month when I share what I bought in the month of October. Well this month is definitely not a great month for books. I did't read much book and didn't buy much book. October is definitely not my month.

My October Book Haul consists of the following:

1. Fearless Series by Francine Pascal
I totally love these series - Gia and Sam , Action and Fearless - Spy and everything related to it. When I saw that they printed the series in the new cover  I totally have to own them.
oct-haul01

2. Anna and the French Kiss and Lola and the Boy next door by Stephanie Perkins
After I bought Isla and the Happily Ever After, I just have to buy the other two books in the series. I just wish I could buy them in the hardcover version.

 oct-haul02

 3. The Infinite Sea by Rick Yancey
The second book of the 5th Waves series. I am not sure I want to continue reading the book because the first book was a little bit depressing for me. I bought it just because I want to have a copy in case I want to read them in the future.oct-haul03

4. The Here and Now by Ann Brashares
A Science / time traveler fiction book which sound really interesting. oct-haul04

5. Only Time Will Tell by Jeffrey Archer
I am not sure what this book is all about. It was on sale for RM12.00 at Popular book store.

6. The Book of Tomorrow by Cecelia Ahem
This is is such a beautiful cover  for a Cecelia Ahem book. This is also on sale at Popular book store.

#thursday3 [23.10.2014]

I just can't believe that this month is almost over. I felt like life has become a normal routine. Life is hard .

HERE ARE MY PHOTO AND FACTS FOR THE WEEK

23102014

#1. I dreamt about my mom last night. I got to hugs and kisses her.

#2. The week was not fun work wise. I felt like I am going crazy. Doing the same thing over and over again is really makes me feel sick.

#3. Counting the days till the release of iPhone 6 in Malaysia which is November 7. I am not sure if I would queue up and rushing to get it when it becomes available. I might order it online.

Today is all about you ... Happy Fifteen birthday

My darling Hazwan, you changed a lot in the last twelve months. Today at the age of fifteen you already know what you want. But most of them either involve with sports or musics. I hope that no matter which area of expertise you want to involve with always refer to Quran and Hadith as your guide. And remember that I love you so much and I will always love you.

birthday-hazwan-15

23.10.2014 - Happy Birthday to my dear son, may all of your dreams come true.

All I want for you is..
 - be all that you can be
 - be the best at what ever that you do
 - be yourself
 - what ever you do in life never go beyond what stated in the Quran and Hadith
 - Remember Allah always
 - and remember me always
 - be good to others
 - enjoy what you do, love what you do and if possible get paid for it
 - work hard and work smart
 - be kind to others especially to your brothers and sister
 - love yourself and take a good care of it
 - eat well and live a healthy lifestyle
 - let pray and du'a be your weapon and tools
 - let Quran and Hadith be your guide

And remember I will always love you no matter how old you get.

Notes: I can't believe that 13 years ago today this happened---> The iPod line was announced by Apple on October 23, 2001.  The little gadget that really changed the world!

Four Simple Goals before 2015

I am not sure if Elsie will bring back the 4 simple goals challenge  this year but I decided to do them anyway just because I love list and I love making goals. I did play along in 2010 , 2012 and  2013 and it was so much fun. I love a little reminder to take stock of the things I really want to accomplish before the end of the year. I know I can do this - Short term and achievable goals.

{Note: I pick up the rules from last year challenge. If Elsie change the rules this year, I will update them}
"If you want, here are the "rules":
1. Choose simple goals that will make your life richer and happier on a daily basis. Choose things you may not otherwise get done but are not difficult to accomplish.
2. Do not choose result oriented goals. Choose activity oriented goals. For example, instead of "lose 10 pounds", choose something like "eat fresh fruits and vegetables every day". Get what I'm saying? Positive actions instead of just the end result!
3. Choose personal goals you believe will truly make your life richer just by doing them! They can be daily, weekly or one time experiences.
4. Choose a reward for each goal as it is accomplished! It can be a small or large reward—it's up to you.
5. Blog about your goals, each one as you achieve it and a big post when they are all finished before the new year! Be sure to leave us a link to your blog in the comments section. I'll be sure to share my experiences in a follow-up post before the new year." excerpt from A Beautiful Mess blog.

These are my 4 simple goals before 2015

4 Simple Goals before 2015

#1. Journal 3 times weekly. Since this year my One Little Word journey is all about writing and journalling, it's a good idea to end the year with more writing that when I started.

#2. Play with my son outside of the house at least once a week. I have become one of those parents who shoved an iPad to the kid to shut them up. I am making the next two months of this year to at least try and play with my son outside of the house, running and jumping around just for the fun of it.

#3. Read at least 3 more books before end of the year. I notice that this month is not a reading month for me. I would be lucky if I could finished two books. So I am going to make my personal mission to at least read three new books before the year ends. The more the better but I am not going to set myself up to fail. Plan for success is a good way to feel good about yourself.

#4. Do Insanity workout at least once a week and T25 workout at least times a week. Keeping up with my workout schedule has become a challenge lately. I get bored easily with the same routine and it's easier for me to ignore my workout appointment if I didn't put the schedule workout in my planner.

Do you still have any unfinished goals? If you do and want to make this a fun and challenging goals, come and join in the fun. It's only 4 goals and we still have two months to do it.

5 things Confession of a Blogger [ #BloggerConfessions ]

Confession of a blogger

I came across a blog post about confession of a blogger by Megan, The Nerdy Girlie, which I think is a great idea. I have be blogging a really long time, way back when blogging was just a web log nothing more nothing less. Without further ado here are my confession as a blogger.

5 things Confession of a Blogger

#1. I blog because I want to preserve memory.
I was a scrapbooker long before I became a blogger. So when I heard about web log technology, I immediately sign up with the intention of keeping a memory of myself and family accessable anytime and anywhere. Little did I know that one day blogging will bloom and turn into a multimillion dollar business. [I secretly wish I was that lucky to land a multimillion readers world wide ... Heheh].

#2. I blog because I have something to say

I never see myself as a writer. But when I started blogging I do have to think like a writer. I am responsible with what kind of content I wrote.

#3. I blog because I want share a little bit of my life and my creative expression

Suddenly I have this canvas in front of me to do what I please. With this tool I decided to share my scrapbook pages and my photos right here in this blog

#4. I have never wanted to aggressively self promote my blog but getting notice is a warm welcome

With social media grow and blooming each day, self promoting becomes so much easier. I secretly wanted to self promote but somehow this technique can cause a lot of stress in my part. I need to learn to art of self promoting..

#5.Most of the time I have no idea what to write about.

This is not a good habit to have. Most of the successful blogger out there will tell you to plan ahead and have at least a month worth of editorial blog post schedule. I wanted so bad to do that but somehow it didn't turn out the way I imagine.

So what are your blogger confession? I know you are dying to share!
