5 things // Apps for Productivity

Long gone the days where phone is only used for calling or texting. Majority of people now own a smart phone which can do more than talking or texting. I realised over the years my used for phone has evolved tremendously.  I noticed that I have been using my phone a lot at work and at home for organising and making my life more productive.

Today I am sharing how I used these five amazing apps to help keep me organise and productive on a daily basis.

App #1.  Evernote
I have talked about Evernote in the past and until today I am still using Evernote for my note taking needs, keeping everything in one place like my receipts, bills, certificates and many more and I also used it for keeping my most important emails. Lately I have been using Evernote to keep all my contacts with photos. It is not a good idea to keep your contact on your phone only.
I also have a notebook dedicated to keep track of all the digital scrapbook kits I bought by month and tag them by year. That way I immediately have a quick view of all the digital scrapbook kits I bought that month.

App #2.  Calendars 5

I love Calendar 5 App not because of it's beautiful design but also because it can seamlessly syncs my activities and tasks to iOS Calendars, Reminders and Google Calendar. I can access everything from any devices. How cool is that?!
This is my one and only calendar I used in my phone and this help me to be in the know when is my next appointment will be at. I just wish they made one for Mac.

App #3.  Dropbox
Dropbox is also one of the first and the coolest could drive I have ever used and I have been using this for more than two years. Lately I have upgrade to a pro version and I can really do a lot with dropbox.

I used Dropbox as my portable usb, the place where I sync my DayOne App, where I kept my screenshots, my project life files and layouts, where I kept my fonts - (I like having the same type of fonts on my PC and Mac and also my Phonto App) and I also used Dropbox to sort and organised photos that I wanted to print on my Canon Selphy.

App #4.  Day One
I used DayOne app as my daily journal. How does this contribute to my productivity? Well, have a special place for me to jot down ideas and express my emotions is a plus in my world. This leave my brain free to do some critical thinking and planning. I am totally in love with DayOne app on the first day I used it on my iPhone and iMac. Once again the ability to access your content from any of your devices is a selling point for me.
I also used DayOne App for my project life and Project 365. I usually set a reminder on DayOne App to journal daily. By the end of the week when I sit down to do my Project Life layout and blog post about Project 365, I have all my journal right there on DayOne app for me to use or modify.

App #5.  Awesome Note

Awesome Note is the first notes I have been using long before Evernote. I really love the User Interface in this app. So much prettier and easier to organise. I usually use Awesome Notes for my to do lists, grocery lists and all things related to lists. I like the lists look and feel in the Awesome Note compare to Evernote. The amazing thing about this app, it it sync with Evernote and just like that I have the content of my Awesome Note available on my Evernote. Yeah for simplicity and accessibility. I wish they have one for Mac

Do you have any other apps that you used
everyday to be more organise and productive?
Do you rely on technology or do you use normal daily planner?

Today I...

Today I...

  • decide to wake up and smile even though we don't have running water
  • am excited to go to work because it's the last day of work for the week
  • am looking forward to spend weekend with my family
  • decide to do P90X in the evening. Somehow I lack energy in the morning to do cardio
  • am looking for a new outfit for the month including shawl/hijab
  • plan to watch Riddick. I watched Man of Steel last night and it's kind of a sad movie and it felt like an alien invasion movie. I guess all these years I have never thought Superman / Clark Kent as an alien
  • am still dreaming of owning a macbook pro
  • intend to be more aggressive with loosing weight. I have been struggling with this issues since the last two years. It is really not easy for me to loose even 1kg per week. I really really have to watch what I ate
  • wanted to spend a lot of time taking photos and generate more content into my new release blog --> Check me out at Something Random
  • have been daydreaming about time travel. If time travel possible I would love to visit 1960's
  • am loving my One Little Word project so far, it's such an amazing experience. This month is all about photos. I intend to capture a lot of daily and random photos this month and document them in my One Little Word journal.
  • am thinking about doing a little bit of at home facial this evening
  • so far my plan to make Today I ... as a monthly segment has been going on well
  • am exploring post it note function on my Evernote mobile. I can that this will be something that I would be using again and again
  • am wondering when will the water crisis end since it's raining every single day without fail

#thursday3 [10.04.2014]

Second week of April felt a little bit longer than usual. It felt like I am working hard like crazy either at work or at home. I felt so tired at the end of the day. All I wanted to do was sleep. Anyway I am super duper excited that it's approaching Friday and weekend. I am so looking forward to just chill and hanging out at home during something creative.

#1. It has been a month since the incident and there are still no concrete news about what happened to the flight MH370. It's scary how no one seems to take responsibility for it.

#2. This week my area where I live is affected by the water crisis. There are no water for two days even though it rains almost every day. According to the schedule this

#3. Running a house with three teen agers and one toddler is definitely a challenge especially at my age. It's a welcome challenge even though sometimes I felt like I am working 24/7.

"Think about it this way…If you take one picture and write down three facts each week — at the end of the year you’ll have more than 50 photos of yourself and 150 facts about what life has been like. It would make such an epic All About Me book — and most of the work is already done."excerpt from

Follow along each week using the hashtag #thursday3 dan tagged me @hanizeyecandy. I want to see your selfie and read about you

I have been struggling with my word lately. I realise that writing takes a lot of thinking and require you to be present when you write. Ever since I lost a friend on flight MH370 last month, I have been having this emotional turmoil that I just don't know how to handle. Am I sad or am I angry or am I disappointed or am I relief or am I guilty? Your brain wants to accept the lost but your heart still believe that he is still alive and hoping to see him again.
So this month, when I received April assignments I decided to be more active and invite my one little word into my life more including writing in my journal, making an art journal and blogging about it.
I saw this blog hop about My Details class, by Megan and Kristin, that prompt about thinking. I immediately thought that it would be great to write and make an art journal out of it. I am still thinking weather I want to sign up for the class or not. I am sure the class would be great for me and my one little word but I am not sure if I can commit.
This is what I came up with. I used Storyteller April Kit by Just Jaimee for this layout.

The Journaling

"I used to think that when I reached 40 life  would be normal and stable. I got nothing to
worry about. Now when I think about it nothing is ever be normal or  permanent. Nothing in this world belong to us. Everything belongs to Allah including myself. The faster I understand it, the easier I can accept life as is and be greateful for what I have.
When I think back to the time when I was in High School,  where my whole life center on getting a good results in my exam, how I believed that my life will be better if I got straights A’s.. how
untrue that was. Yes, you will have a lot of opportunities and choices when you  get good results but that does not secure you a happy and healthy life. I know that I can’t  impose the same teaching to my kids because their lives are different from mine.
They have information at their finger tips. I think for my kids, the most important thing is to teach them the knowledge and the wisdom to filter out information (which to keep which to discard) and making the right choices base on Islamic teaching. No matter how advance we get, what Allah teaches us in Quran is valid. Allah is the one who created us of course Allah knows everything. I am so very thankful that I still have my freedom (in away at least, even though I can’t choose which are got to have water or not), I still can choose either to be happy or stress out. I choose to see that Life is Beautiful"

Wreck this Journal #1

I have been suck into Wreck this journal world ever since I saw some youtube videos about it. Some of them are too damn pretty and artsy and some of them are just plain destruction. I am am not sure if I am too old for these weird prompts but one thing is for sure, it requires creative interpretation and some does of fun.
My take on this challenge will not be anything gross, I will always of for a prettier version. Like Keri said Instructions are open to interpretations. I spend almost RM50 for the journal, so I am going to make it pretty the best possible way that I can.

I choose the red one just because I love colour
Poke holes

Draw fat lines and thin

Tear Strips and rip it up

Glue, staples or tape this pages together wreck05

Fill this page with circles wreck06

Tear up, CRUMPLE

Write one word over and over again wreck08

Glue a random page from newspaper wreck09

Cover this page in tape

Close the journal, write something on the edges wreck11

So far I am having so much fun doing it especially when it involves colouring and glueing things in the book. I came from a generation where you have to colour inside the lines and you have to respect your book. Wreck this journal is definitely not inside my comfort zone. It's difficult sometimes to do it but somehow it's liberating and fun.
Wreck this journal is a book created by Keri Smith  is a bestselling author, illustrator, and thinker. Her books demonstrate a 'learn by doing approach', and are being used in school curriculums all over the world as a way of fostering non-traditional methods of exploration. She also teaches and conducts workshops based on her non-traditional techniques across North America. Her books include: Wreck This Journal, How to Be an Explorer of the World, This is Not a Book, Mess - A Manual of Accidents and Mistakes, Finish This Book, and Pocket Scavenger. She enjoys spending time with her husband, experimental musician Jefferson Pitcher, and two children Tilden and Ida.

Project Life [Week 14]

I can't believe that April is here. Now my layout has April in them, this mean that we are already in the second quarter of the year. I thought that by this time of the year most of the planned project is already started and in motion but somehow things seems to move a little bit slower.

Week 14 [Project 365]

This week feel a little bit longer. Every time Monday comes, I just can't wait for Friday to be here. I am so tired of the same old routine, wake up going to work, spend more than 8 hours with strangers, come home, pick up my kids, blog, prepare dinner, sleep and the cycle begin again. My 365 project is one of the ways for me to look forward going to work, do my daily activities, capture it, blog about and make Project Life layouts with it.

day 90 - Monday night and we were on our way out for dinner. Love that tonight I have the energy to go out and have fun with my kids.
day 090

day 91 - I love watching this little boy playing by himself.

day 091

day 92 - I am loving the camera on my new phone. Love love this.

day 092

day 93 - It has been a long time since the last time i took a photo with this boy

day 093

day 94 - I just love watching this little boy play with my iPhone. Since he is a little bit older now, this gadget is just like another toy. His addiction is under control and I take the phone away without any problem.

day 094

day 95 - Today it’s just me, Hazirah and Hanif. Both of my boys are at school until late evening. I decided to go to Alamanda. For the first time it’s just me and Hanif and Hazirah. Taking care of a toddler without any help is a little bit challenging at this age. I don’t have enough energy and strength to keep up with him.

day 095

day 96 - My son is loving the camera on my new iPhone. He kept taking selfie, with various post and also capture a few videos.

day 096

These are my life in photos for week fourteen. So many things happened and if I don't take the time to document them I might miss a lot. I still believe when you took the time to document the every day and the good things that happened in your life, you will be more grateful. Just saying.

Do you join Project 365 this year?
If you do linked up in the comment, I would love to
see your work and a glimpse of your life in 2014
