5 tips // Simple = Done

As I wrote 5 tips to a paperless life, it got me thinking about my life in general. I have been living a complicated life for years and I think it's about time I simplify. For years I have been dreaming and wanting a simple and back to basic life without doing much about it. After watching Scrapbooking with Becky Higgins, I am totally sold with the idea of simple equals done.
So for this year, I will make a conscious effort to implement Simple equal done concept in every aspect of my life.

Here are a few things that I intend to simplify for this year

#1. Simplify: process - this year I am experimenting doing digital project life for my Project 365. Before the year starts I was inspired by Cathy Zielske to setup my project life system. I use Dropbox to hold all my project life photos folders by week and by month. I also made a few pre made templates . Everyday since january, I will choose one photo and upload it to my dropbox folder. I also use Dayone app to jot down any thoughts about photo of the day. Then on the weekend, I put all the photos, cards and journaling on the template and I made two scrapbook layouts in less than 30 minutes. So far the process is simple enough for me that I can still maintain and enjoying the process.

#2. Simplify: photos - I tend to take lots of photos over the years and I seldom delete them. When it comes to photos, I thought delete button is evil. I just don't want to touch them at all. So for this year, I will scan my photos either weekly or monthly and delete unwanted photos or duplicate photos. Only keep want you want to remember and delete the rest. Then upload all the photos to flickr for safe keeping. I will do for the rest of my collection if I have the time.

#3. Simplify: relationship - In the past I always demand more out of a relationship. I've always have a preset mentality about what I want in a relationship. So for this year, I will simplify my thoughts and not dwell too much on what a marriage or friendship or parenthood should be like. I will stop romantizing about what the relationship should be. The only thing I could do is be the best that I can be and stop demand more from others.

#4. Simplify: spiritual - Islam is simple and Islam is a way of life. Instead of focusing on the "ibadah" point of view - especially things that I don't do in terms of my devotion to Allah, I intend to focus more on the way of life. Islam is a perfect, it has all the guidance and rules for the healthy and happy living. Every thing that you do (as long as it's syahriah compliance) will be rewarded. I just have to educate myself how to live a simple and syahriah compliance life

#5. Simplify: Writing - I choose write as my one little word for this year. I realised that over the years I have to edit and filter everything that I wanted to say from the public. It makes me leave out a lot of emotion and details about my life. So this year, I would like to write freely and unedited. Make a date with myself to write in my journal everything I was thinking, what I was feeling and what my hope was. All the good stuffs that were taken out from my blog. So this year, I will keep a journal or notebook near by and just write.

Going simple is not easy because it takes changing the way you work, changing the way of life and reinventing new ways of doing things. Going simple take courage, will and intention to do so.

If simple is your one little word for this year, hope these tips and help you narrow down which area you want to simplify this month.

February is for...

#thursday3 [30.01.2014]

I am really glad I did this project. I know that by the end of this year I am going to have a series of my selfie and a little bit facts about my life in 2014. I just hope that by the end of the year, I will achieve my ideal weight and can really maintain a healthy lifestyle. I am so doing T25 workout almost daily. I am loving it and so far I have managed to do all of them except push up on my toes.

#1. This is not a pleasant week for me. I have been suck into the drama which I don't intend to participate. I thought that story is already ended last year but somehow the previous actors just don't want to quit
#2. This week is a short work week because Chines New Year holiday is on Friday. I just love when we have a public holiday on Friday. It makes my weekend a little bit longer
#3. I feel like work wise is moving smoothly this year. Personal life is a little bit tricky. Healthy lifestyle and loosing weight is my goal for this week and that include getting enough quality sleep

"Think about it this way…If you take one picture and write down three facts each week — at the end of the year you’ll have more than 50 photos of yourself and 150 facts about what life has been like. It would make such an epic All About Me book — and most of the work is already done."excerpt from

Follow along each week using the hashtag #thursday3 dan tagged me @hanizeyecandy. I want to see your selfie and read about you.

Letting go

It has been a really long time since I made a scrapbook layout just for the fun of it. The month is almost over and I have accumulate lots of beautiful kit. Now is the time to sit down and make fun and meaningful layouts for 2014. It feels good to just sit in front of my computer and get lost in scrapbooking world.

Project Life is here {Malaysia}

I got asked a lot of questions about Project Life and where do I purchased mine locally. I was first introduce to Project Life in 2012. At first I thought this project is all about taking photos of your everyday life and document them in an album. How wrong I was! Project Life is so much more than that. It's a scrapbooking made simple. Either you are a traditional scrapper or a digital scrapper, you can do Project Life.
In Becky's word, "Project Life is a solution-based approach to scrapbooking that was created to simplify the process in order to allow you more time to enjoy life! It requires no glue, no scissors, no tools, and no skills of any kind. The design of our products takes the guess work out of layout design so that you can focus on recording your everyday moments through your photos and journaling. The simple design is stylish and makes it possible for you to complete more pages in less time."

Where to get Project Life product if you live in Malaysia?

#1. Papier Store at the Curve, Damansara
#2. Scrap-n-Crop - online shop where you can get Project Life product cheaper
#3. - if the product you are looking for is sold out , you can always go to to get more Project Life products.

I am still waiting for the shopping cart to be available at Becky Higgins website. I hope they shipped their product to Malaysia.

If you are computer savvy and love to do digital Project Life, you can always go to digital project life to shop and get more inspiration.

What you need?

The very basics that you need to complete an album are:
  1. 12x12 Binder
  2. Project Life® Core Kit
  3. Big Pack of Photo Pocket Pages
And of course your printer photos either 4x6 size of 3x4 size.

Where do I print my photos?

#1. If I have more than 200 photos to print and I want them like right now, I usually send them for print at Fujifilm photo studio. It cost me 40 cent per photo and I can get them in about one hour
#2. If I have only a few photos to print, I usually use my Canon Selphy CP900 Photo Printer.
#3. If I have time and I want to print various sizes at one time, I use my Canon E510 Pixma printer.

Project Life Core Kit

When is the time I usually do my Project Life?

I usually put my Project Life album out on a table. Every time I can steal about 10 to 20 minutes, I will print my photos and slip them in the album.
Only on the weekend I spend about 30 minutes on the project. Slipping in photos and cards in the album. I think the hardest part is to choose which photos to print and scrapbook worthy. Once you got you photos out of you computer, the rest of the process is easy.

The most important thing with this project or any other project is to have fun!

Project Life [Week 04]

Things are moving a little bit faster this week. I am struggling finding a new theme and what to capture on a daily basis. I sometimes refer to fatmumslim blog for inspiration. I am still trying to find a perfect and simple process for my daily photo. Something simple that I can do in less than one minute. Being consistent is the key to keep this project going for three hundred and sixty days.

This is my Digital Project Life for Week 04

Side by Side

This will be my look and feel for my photo book by the end of the year. Compiling these page weekly is so satisfying. I really hope I can maintain this phase. But in a case where I might not be able to them, I will not freak out because I know all the information is there in my day one app, in flickr and in my digital project life folder properly organize.

Twenty one Months {Hanif}

I almost forgot to record his twenty first month milestone. Since today is Sunday, we were busy enjoying each other's company.

Some random things about him
* he loves to eat banana
* he doesn't like to eat apple
* he really can understand simple instruction
* he is still so damn cute
* he can recognise some simple objects and actions like ball, 'air', 'makan', tong sampah, susu
* he walks down the stairs and up the stairs by himself like an expert. He walks so carefully and really watch his steps.
* he finally agreed to drink milk from a bottle
* I really have to be careful where I put my Project Life cards. He loves to play with those cards
* he always move away every time I try to take his photos. I really have to grab his attention just to capture him looking at the camera

Week 04 // Project 365

I thought my life finally can be back to normal. The moment I thought that, there's always things happened that shattered those dreams again. Oh boy! I just felt like the most stupid person ever!
Anyway, I am trying so very hard not to let those unwanted things to ruin my life. Thank Allah so much for I still have the inspiration and the will to continue doing Project 365 and Project Life.

These are my week so far

day 20- This is what my to do list look like. Ever since I decided to write down my to do list, I have been busy jotting down things that are mostly lingering on my mind on a daily basis. Even though the things that might now have to do with work or daily tasks, I think it is still important to do. I have been thinking about backing up my files since like forever but when I don't jot it down as something I have to do, backing up remains constantly on my mind without any action.
Now that I have jot down backing up as one of my to dos, I honestly making a plan and taking some action to get the job done.

day 21-I am finally holding Sunshine Core Kit in my hand with Kiwi 12x12 album. I got these Project Life kits from Scrap N Crop online site. Love the services and the price.

day 22- Finally I took the time and capture my current handbag. I am so in love with the design and the color.

day 23 - Me and my darling son. The morning routine usually left him unhappy and me feeling a little bit guilty for leaving him at a daycare center. If only I have the courage and the financial independence to just quit my job and be a full time mother to this little guy. I hope that he knows how much I love him.

day 24 - It's Friday and I don't feel like going out during long lunch break. I have my lunch at Padi which is just two minutes away from my office (it's a walking distance). So far I am obsess with the nacho and the spaghetti.

day 25 - I love watching these two together. They really have a special bond.

day 26 - I just love my Sundays. I got to do things I love - blogging, backup, browsing, making Project Life layouts and chill out with my kids. And I am still using my old scrapbook books for inspiration.

These are my life in photos for week three. So many things happened in less than a month. I think when you took the time to document the every day and the good things that happened in your life, you will more grateful. Just saying.

Do you join Project 365 this year?
If you do linked up in the comment, I would love to
see your work and a glimpse of your life in 2014
