Hanif Journal // week 6 - 7

project life

Lately I am so obsessed making this journal for my baby. I recently discovered Project Life created by Becky Higgins. And I was so glad that I did. I took photos of Hanif everyday and it would be ashamed not to showcase them or print them out. So project life idea gives me a reason to make memories of them.

I made the layouts using Adobe Photoshop and digital kits from my stash. I print them on my Canon Printer , resize to 84.5%. Cut them (or not) and paste them into the journal page.

This is what I have so far..

June Top Five Quarterly Photo Linkup

I took a lot of photos from April until now. One of the reason is because I have a new baby and every time I saw something cute I just had to snap a few shoots. With iphone on my hand it's getting ridiculous with the amount of pictures I took! So choosing top 5 is not going to be easy. It took me awhile to choose just five but this challenge make me look at my old picture and really think about why I love it so much.

So here are my top five.

1. 37 weeks - I really like this photo of me at 37 weeks (my baby is still in my tummy). I was pregnant with my forth child and I was feeling tired all the time. My doctor advice me to brisk wall everyday to keep my body fit for labour. So this is me walking and taking some photo at the park.

2. The first picture I took of my new born baby. Too bad I am the photographer in the family. So when I was busy giving birth, no one was willing to take that role. So I didn't have any birthing photos (uhuhuh.. sobbing a bit).
Anyway I took this photo when I saw my baby for the first time in my recovery room. I thought he was the most beautiful thing I have ever seen.
Second day [camera: iphone4S + instagram]

3. While I was busy recovery from C-section and taking care of a new baby, my other kids were neglected a bit. So when I was feeling better, I asked my kids to stay in bed with me, talking and catching up. I really missed them.
Love them like crazy [camera: iphone4S + instagram]

4. I just love this photo just because it's so cute and adorable. I just want to pinch his cheeks!

5. Another cute pose of him while he was sleeping. When I woke up that morning with his arms wide open, I saw that he was no longer in his blanket. He looked so peaceful. That is such a pretty sight for me.

I hope you enjoy this as much as I do. Thanks for looking. If you want to link up and join the fun visit this site.

Lesson 3 // playing with texture

I used to play with texture and blending but I don’t really understand the basic concept. With this lesson 3 Jessica explain the different effect we can with each blending mode. This is so much fun. Seriously, if you love taking photos and love photoshop you should join this class. Did I mention that it’s free? Go here for more.

This is the assignment for lesson 3: task 1

First I played with the sample picture lesson3-task1 and now I put in my own photo lesson3-task1-haniz I really love this kind of effect. After this I might go crazy with collecting texture papers! I know I do have a lot of them in my own collection of digital kits.

forty one and it keeps getting better

Once upon a time there was a baby girl dreaming of amazing life fill with beautiful pink dresses and shoes to match. Nothing seems out of reach. The whole world is open up for her to conquer. It kinda remind me of Today was a fairy tale song bu Taylor Swift.. I don’t know why.
“Today was a fairy tale
You were the prince
I used to be a damsel in distress
You took me by the hand and you picked me up at six
Today was a fairy tale”

Forty One years later... ( last year I did this chronology of me changing…. this year I am keeping it simple)
that baby grew up to be a beautiful women, got married and have kids of her own. This may not be the life she dreamt of but it’s close enough. {it turns out that to be a princess  you have to be born a princess or married a prince…. hemmm}
Anyway I am still thankful with the life I have now. At 41 my g-list look something like this.
I am thankful that…
* I am still alive to celebrate my 41 birthday
* I have my health
* I have a new born baby that I can spoil and love with all my heart
* I have one of the fastest internet connection currently in Malaysia
* I have the opportunity to watch my children grow up
* growing old, hopefully much wiser
* I have thoughtful FB friends. Thank you for all the birthday wishes especially to Ben Ashaari and Ayu among the first to wish me happy birthday
* my parents are still here to wish me happy birthday
* I can still smile and be happy with what I have
* I have iphone 4S to amuse me and keep me entertain all the time

Hanif Journal // the Project Life style

project life

Early this month I decided to make a journal about my baby, Hanif. I just don’t want to miss the detail of him and things that happened in a daily basis. Life with a baby can move in a blink of an eye and suddenly you don’t have a baby any more. This is going to be a fun project for me since I am still on my maternity leave and I take photos of him daily.

At first I don’t  know how to approach the journaling. I am considering either make it as a scrapbook style only or art journal style only. Then I discover Project Life at Becky Higgins blog. It’s a little bit late for me to start in the middle of the year but I really like the concept. So I decided to use the idea for Hanif Journal. I made the journal like Project Life (digitally of course), print it 84.5% on A4 Glossy Paper, cut it and paste it into the journal. The elements and digital papers I used are from my stash. Yeah now I have the reason to visit some of my old collections.

5 things // instant infant swaddle

Fifteen years ago, I was having trouble swaddling my baby with a blanket or a napkin. By second month I gave up swaddling my baby due to unsuccessful technique. My baby cried a lot and so did I.

Now I am so thankful with this instant infant swaddle. It's so easy and fast to use, even my ten years old daughter can easily wrap her brother securely without any problem.

5 things why I love this instant infant swaddle:
#1. My baby sleep well when I wrapped him in this soft and comfortable wrap
#2. Easy to use
#3. The material is 100% cotton
#4. The adjustable self-velcro fasteners is brilliant
#5. The price is affordable and it's worth every penny

Now my baby cry less and I can easily calm him down with Dr. Harvey's technique . Swaddling is the first tool you have to use to start calming your baby. And it works!
